I bought the hl kt last year round about september, it came as the professional version with metal tracks and metal gears etc, however I had to replace the gearboxes within a couple of weeks I discovered the bearings had been bored over size this resulted in the gears not meshing. Once I did that it seemed fine. But the stearing has always been an issue, could it be the electronics board not sending the correct info to the motors?
the gears are quite free to turn.
Cheers

I got a used Tauch from Ebay awhile ago...the guy described almost the same steering problems you had...when I received it...found the tracks were so tight...that they were binding the gearboxes..made it pull to the right..suffice to say...the incorrect tension cause more than just steering problems ... the motors were actually burning when the tank was running ...I had to replace the motors..they were fried ..literally ...luckily the gearboxes were fine...all I did to fix the problem was adjust the track tension...which on the Panzer III is to purchase the metal adjuster unit or lengthen the track and install new motors......she ran fine...I got ripped on the deal..because it wasn't what was represented in the auction ....but the tank was for parts anyway..It's just good to test the unit out before going any further

...anyway I will probably be tearing it down again within the next year for a couple of other projects
That's the major weakness on the PanzerIII / Stug hull ...track tension...especially when you run metal tracks

Curiously Alpha the tracks were pretty loose, they are now running on my Tamiya KT, the ones that were on it are plastic and now my HL runs much better, there are no tensioners on it I never got around to buying the ones for it.

That's great wizard...on my old Tamiya KT...the HL tracks wouldn't mesh with the sprockets correctly...On both my HLs the metal tracks are great...have a set of the HLs on one...Mato on the other...going to try and move the HL porsche KT innards over to the Tamiya...but that's a project on the back burner for now

Check my other post alpha about the tamiya KT you will see the mods I am doing to it using HL parts, I was surprised that the HL metal tracks fitted the Tamiya but they did, so as I said i used the tamiya tracks and fitted them to the HL, they are slightly shorter but it runs fine.
Cheers
