Can I safely run the TARR straight off the battery or should I drop the voltage a tad with a regulator?

tao, no need...... I ran them straight off a 3S lipo. You should see the smoke !

Edit: Oooops. Just saw that you want to slow it down so lower then the voltage would certainly do it.

Lol no actually don't want to slow it down just don't want to burn it out! So straight off battery is fine then it seems.
I wonder what the max voltage it is safe to use them with. The resistor seems pretty sturdy.
