Found it. Sure is what I would like to do.
Looking at Mr Phils work has turned a cold shower on me :problem:
But, still plenty of scope to turn one out & the look is just what I like.

It seems the mesh armour was actually a sanctioned fit out, not just a field mod. The mobile workshops or support units had these in kits to fit to tanks as able so the story goes.
I have seen a picture of one with stolen & refitted Thoma mesh schurzen off a Pz IV !!

WET SHOWER?????????????????????????? WHY? I've always found Prof Phil's builds inspiring...the guy just enjoys tinkering with those Heng Longs...did you notice the suspension mods he found...they work ...even on the current version of the T34...I was able to custom tune mine... :D

I didnt look that far. The suspension does seem to sit quite high so this will get a bit of attention for sure.
Mr phill sure has set the bar high for one of these.
There were many of them of course, but there are two in Berlin period pictures so I have options.
Im off again tomorrow for 3 weeks, so no work can be done on these projects. I just hope the asiatam fairy sends my stuff while Im away.

Don't feel bad Herman...Though Prof Phill's work does set a high mark....unless you feel you are competing ....the standard he sets is pure inspiration...He is probably the first builder I conversed with on this board....I was amazed at what he could do with these Heng Longs...where everyone else was turning away from them and changing brands ..
With that said...his Bedspringer is actually a WSN...you can see what kind of passion the guy has for the Hobby...have respected him since the first day I've been on this board

Keep em Rolling Herman

Nah, not competing, its just easy to get your ambitions mixed up with your actual capabilities when the level is set so high.
I guess I can at least have the first one since 09 then :haha: :haha: :/
Have got 3 weeks to think over it during quiet time, so lets see how it goes.

There ya go Herman...What you be talking about now is INSPIRATION ...Prof Phil as well as guys like Fynsdad and Dgssellkirk...they are like Teachers...Their Lesson plans purely Subliminal ;) ...some pick up on it...some don't...feel fortunate if you have :D

H/L mate................
Plus I got a load of extras already..............metal wheels, drive & idle wheels, tracks, steel gearbox's etc.
As it is an early 2.4 G rig it can run as is.
I spend a bit of quality time this arvo running around the lounge engauging in an urban combat scenario with the 2 daughters princess castles !!.............it was quite fun(for me) to see the long barrel run through a window, then push the entire thing over with little princess's crashing all around !!
I did get beached though when I ran hard up over cinderellas stage coach :problem:

As I go to work tomorrow, I have thrown the Mrs a bone & decided not to rip it apart as yet.
At least she gets some time with the zone all clear of detrius for a few weeks at least ;)

Its on though, this T34/85 will be done, and will be a learning curve. Even the internet research sites are strange looking compared to the usual sites for German Tank info.
Oh, and if I ever need a bride from over there :wtf: :wtf:
