So today was an awesome day for the Tank!! The guy I bought it from some how found the transmitter for it. Went and picked it up along with a vintage Kyosho monster truck.

Image

Got everything back here to the house and noticed that the screw on the battery door on the transmitter was pretty rusty so I didn't expect anything better when I opened it up. To my surprise there was a battery installed but not one oz of corrosion and the battery was still good and the transmitter turned on.

Well after that treat I decided to see if I could get things to turn on. Figured out the battery polarity and sure enough this bad boy came to life. Drove it around the yard for a bit but the right gear box and the right rear guide wheel defiantly need attention.

So then I started hooking everything else up, speaker, missile launcher, and turret servo (turret gear was broken off the bases but wanted to see if the turret servo worked). Everything came up and worked great.

So I ran a new power cable from the front to rear and fixed the turret gear hold downs. Videos below.

Can't wait to get the drive train back to proper working order but to have it fully functioning for the most part is outstanding for now. I almost feel bad for the guy that sold it to me because apparently he had no idea what he had and for the price paid....... I was in the right place at the right time.

Hahahaha yeah wouldn't be my first pick for sure LOL but it does have all the channels to run everything on the back side. Still looking for a new 2.4ghz set up to update it when I can find one. For now this one will do

Still on the hunt for a gear box gear. Anyone have any old gear boxes laying around for one of these things?

Hey SuperB....never seen the inside of one of these ..what's the voltage on it...you might be able to adapt 1/16 steel gears in it...along with some High Torque motors...With that said...I'm sure there are other 1/6 modellers who have changed them out...Have you tried Googling for info or even searching YouTube ...sometimes they have videos of Modifications others have done

Good Luck with your Quest

SuperB,
Try these guys: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/M5S ... alion/info It's a little late in the day to find many stock motor or gearbox parts but you never know. There are a ton of metal and resin add-ons available for the tank still. I'll keep an eye open and ping here if I find anything gearbox related.

P.S. A cool link: http://www.oocities.org/patsmodels/stuart/

Yeah I've research them quite a bit. Seen some crazy over the top mods but nothing with replacements. Its a duel spur gear which makes it tough. Still beating the bushes before I go into mod mode. Given that it is a toy grade no replacements were manufactured for them. There was quite a lot of them sold here in the states but just haven't found that right person with the gear I need even eBay is a bust although I did pick up an idler wheel I needed.
