Hi Tanxalot,

With a bit of luck the Leo will be finished this weekend  ;D ;D ;D
Wacky over on hobby havoc has done a conversion job on one of those 1\12 Abrams.
His only real problem was tracks and drive sprockets, so he fitted HL Tiger 1 parts.
Wonder if I've got room for one of those big beasts, mmmmm....................................

Cheers

Hi John,
Yep, Wacky and I have been in touch regarding the Abrams, and he has done an excellent job, and is the reason why I bought one in the first place. I intend going down the tiger track route too, but money being as tight as it is, the machines are taking a back seat..unfortunately!!

Keep up the reports on the Leo, loving what you are doing, and look forawrd to seeing it in the flesh!!

Too much month left at the end of the money!!

Hi All,

Quick progress report on the Leo:-
The extra track links I needed arrived on Saturday. (Many thanks Norse for such prompt service.)
So I added the links, tensioned the tracks, wired it up, and gave it a run.
First impressions were very pleasing, plenty of suspension movement, loads of traction, and best of all no thrown tracks even on carpet!
There was one small problem though, the right hand track was moving to the left which made it look like it was running on the road wheels. A quick inspection revealed that the corresponding gearbox was very slightly ( 2mm ) out of alignment. A quick adjustment was made and everything is fine.
Anyway here's a few pics of the beasty, all it needs now is the DBU/DBC units.  ;D ;D ;D

One little niggle. I'll have to do something about the width of the idler wheels.
As you can see in the above image they are wider than the tracks.

Cheers

Really love the shape and look of the modern tanks. Found some fantastic vids of the Abrams on youtube, I was blown away at how fast they move.

Just wish I had room for one...............

Hi Adin,

That's the only problem with them they are quite big. The leo takes up more room than 2 PzIII's!!
Do a search for the episode of Top Gear where the Challenger2 took on a range rover, it's awesome.
Why doesn't someone make a Challenger2 ????????????

Cheers

Hi Lads,

I've got hold of a laser diode for the Leo's target designator at last.
It's really small, 12mm long, 4 to 5mm wide and runs at 3v. So it should be a doddle to fit.
I'll be fitting it tomorrow so expect some pics.

Cheers
