For electronics might I suggest you contact Tankbear for an IBU2 system, very good guy to deal with and an excellent system! I'm running them in both my King Tiger and Tigers.

Then if you do get the IBU2 for smoke I'd HIGHLY recommend either a TARR mark 1 or 2 smoker as they are the best I have found. Then for smoke fluid you want a product called Megasteam that is actually for model railroads but works fantastic with the TARR smokers.

Does the ibu2 have external speed controller hook ups? I haven't researched them as I have elmod, and clark

The elmod pro has 2 ports for the driver/track motors. One on the board at 10 amp load, and I believe 30 amp max. The external electronic speed control ports are fed off the board in reciver type plug that can be used for external esc as your choice. Un limited amp load as long as the after market esc can handle the amp drawl. No more burnt boards cause the motors are driven off the external esc and not the board. Only the reciver signal is used.

Still have full control of everything and also with quality esc a person can customize the step up on the channels on the board, and secondary the esc. ...I feel mor benifet to supper slow powerful crawl and also control. Esc are programable..

Hmmmmm....... I think this is a question best answered by Tankbear, I don't want to tell you wrong.

I do know with the IBU2 you don't need external speed controls and it has built in fuses for the motors but I don't remember the amp, sorry.

What I can tell you is that I'm running one in my 18 lb King Tiger almost all metal monster (18 lbs is AFTER it went on a diet, it was up to 21!) and it has 4.1 hardened steel gearboxes with 480 hi performance motors, all metal running gear and tracks, a TARR mark II smoker and IBU2 speaker AMP with dual speakers and a 2 cell 7.4 volt lipo battery and I have run that tank EVERY WHERE over and through every type of terrain and have never blown a fuse. Heck just the other day at the park I was turning on a STEEP dirt hill and the track started to pop off, the only time my KT has EVER tried to throw one and even with the track jammed and the tank still trying to move it didn't blow a fuse or hurt anything with the IBU2. Again this is an 18 POUND monster of a King Tiger, your little Bulldog could never weigh this much unless you built it entirely from metal!

The ibu2 does not support external speed controllers, but it's been designed so the on board speed controller (20a) have numerous protective features like adjustable overload cut off, thermal protected, even energy recapture for longer run time.

As been said this has been proven in some heavy tanks, I've even seen a very heavy 1/10 or 1/12 scale centurion running 540 speed motors using the IBU2.

Ok, cool...I will look into them deeper.. thank you guys for the insight. 18-21lbs is a good size. I've only added maybe 3-4 lbs to this bd. Enough to get the nose down an over object better. It was really rear heavy.

The Elmod does indeed support external speed controllers, but bear in mind that these would cost in addition to the price of the board. The additional functionality is really an option for those building large scale tanks, as it allows unlimited speed controller capacity whilst still having all of the standard Elmod features.

As far as 1/16 models are concerned, it would be complete overkill, as modern boards are protected against blowups. Under normal use they are more than capable of handling anything that we can throw at them.
