Re: track troubles
Have you tried loosening the gear box screws (3) and moving the gearbox around to be sure it's on it's alignment lugs?

Re: track troubles
The mounting holes in the plastic hull are weak, marginal at best. I just drill a hole through the hull to match (at least one) of the mounting holes of the gearbox. there's no reason to enlarge the gearbox hole you can just go a size smaller and find a screw to match. Then I use a screw, washers and nuts...yes they are ugly, but, you can just put it so the screw heads only show at the bottom, and install your nut from the top down. You can use as long as a screw as you'd like, two or three inches, and mount it on the outer hole in the gearbox so it's easy to reach. The screw threads will not show after all, when the screw points up inside the hull. With a little paint a screw head is not too visible underneath the hull. This will hold the gearbox in much more securely.
I have got the metal mounting plates from Jack wang, from mato mart, on Ali express, and if you use them, these should mount the gearboxes very strongly alright. They were like $4 each. I emailed him and he had them and i bought 3 or 4 but have not used them (not sure why). Erik from Imex USA also has the mounting plates. When i got my cool roller bearing gearbox from heng long store, i just used screws.
If you want to try these roller bearing gearbox, Heng long store (ali express) has them for $60, they have a bearing each end of the output shaft so, might help your problem? I've never seen any tracks metal or plastic, that like to function well at high speed. It might just be the nature of these small parts, when you watch them moving you can see how many parts are working against each other, and at much faster speed then the real thing they were designed to imitate, ever did. You can see the tracks sticking on the front gear and/or trying to throw themselves off the rear idler, they are always on the verge of doing one or the other no matter how you fix them.
Some tracks seem better then others, maybe it's the way they are shaped. i have had few problems with my panther or Mark III throwing tracks, but my tiger 1 and 2 did it so bad i i seldom drive them now. i tried everything - even got the Henntec idlers for the king tiger, which helped some (so did going back to plastic tracks, the metal ones were just too big and heavy to ever function right).
The henntec idler is still available, ebay has them once in a while, the only difference in them is the center shaft length. You can always get one for a larger tank like the KT, then cut down the center shaft to fit.

Re: track troubles
It has the Taigen metal hull with the metal gearbox plate so that's not the problem, maybe I just put it back together wrong as all seems well at the moment. I will go and have a look at jack Wang and the heng long on Ali express that's for the tips much appreciated.
