Why buy them. They are easy to make if you have some very thin cloth. a squeeze bottle of heavy duty fabric glue and real sand. Just cut the cloth slightly oversize to the finish size you want. cut the cloth long enough that it will be both sides of the finished sandbag. Run the fabric glue half way down the cloths very outside edge and fold it over pinching the glued areas tightly. Let dry for at least a half hour then turn them inside out using a pencil. you now have a sandbag that's empty. Fill with sand loosely and glue the open end shut or tie with sewing string. If you made them big enough you will have a sand bag that can be placed wherever you want and since they are flexible they can be placed around things or piled up just like the real thing. The fabric glue can also be used to hold them on.
I don't think Germans used the sandbag as an armor addition in any pics I've seen. The American tankers used them a lot

Think I'll make my own sand bags too, thanks for the info GreenGiant... Never seen them on German Tanks, only US tanks... But one can put them on any tank they want, remember this is RC Tanks and who cares what you do to your own tanks... I'm a 35 plus years Shipwright and build all my own Bridges, Buildings, Towers, and Walls, and even my own Palm Trees... It's a blast making your own battlefield prop's...

as far as the suggestion that the bought ones be hardened with white glue why do that. If you leave them unhardened they can be stacked just the same and if run over will move much like the real ones would. They could also be reused if you change where you put them without having to buy more empty bags.

well, i think that it all depends on your aims

try making 1200 yourself (for now, they will be more soon), these are the number we have already used on our club scenery, we have a lot of defensive positions build, trenches, bunkers, etc, all of these elements MUST be already done and constructed and have to be quickly put in his place on the yard. We have the weapons and the major part of the figures glued in place on the modular positions too.

if you plan to do a few of them it could be affordable to make them by yourself, but several hundreds? this would be a Nightmare and i do not have so many free time.

we cannot reuse them, we put them in place forever, except several dozens, these we use on the 'to be destroyed' positions, by means of petards.

And without the diluted carpenter's glue, they will not take the appropriate shape and you cannot do the appropriate 'weathering' to them, but all this is just my opinion.

so, every one could choose the method that suits better his aims
