Aaaagh your right, just checked in my book which clearly shows the difference. The MG was one of the first bits of add on kit I bought - not sure why it would be under Tiger 1 upgrades section of the website....lesson learnt.
On the plus side it means I can order a new MG and if I'm doing that might ads well get a few other bits
I have so far only found the Aber kit - any advice who sells a LED armoured MG34?
Cheers
Mark

HI Kiaser
No the hinges went on the mounts exactly - I did shave of a small bit where the hinge sits against the hull when open. They now sit upright but are quite tight in this position. So not perfect but it works.
Its all new to me but good learning

I agree about the "P E" very nice, For people who are new to fitting engine grilles to Tiger 1's the ABER Photo etch is the one to buy as the cheaper "Asiatam" now Taigen is oversized or at least that is what I have been told.

I am watching this build with interest but knowing that builds never seem to end, Witness my Tigers, still work in progress and TFTM's Tiger and SOV'S Tiger we all will be well into pensionable age before we are done! and of course Painless with his revisiting of perfection, for goodness sake they are all outstanding so please leave them alone

Thanks for comments gents, much appreciated.
The PE is the cheaper Taigen type, and I did have to file the edges down to fit.
It is really good watching the other builds out there, although way beyond my skill.
Am thinking of adding antenna next, I need to get a new recoil unit before I will start on the turret, oh but then there's the wing nuts to finish the jack mount, and the cables and the................

Pleased with these wing nuts from tank zone. Will add two to the side of MG mount also.
Waiting for scale antenna to arrive in post next
Thanks again for comments, its nice to know others are out there

Hi Rangie,
Good to see another thorough Tiger build - must get back to mine...
You will love those wing nuts - expensive but worth it. They certainly finish off the jack mounts.
On the topic of the front hatches this took me a while to work out. The metal hatches fit very snuggly into the tabs underneath the hull but for some reason they don't open quite enough to swing past the vertical when open.
They should look like this:

- Drivers's hatch on the Saumur Tiger 1 showing how it swings open past the vertical.jpg (31.17 KiB) Viewed 3398 times
I did cut out a notch in the lip of the hatch ring (not strictly accurate as you can see) but this didn't have the desired effect.
The simple answer turned out to be this: just sand down the mount so that it's about half the thickness and then fit it back in place. Since this means that the hatch is now raised up slightly it just allows it to open a little wider. This should keep it from moving about as well...

- Taigen driver's hatch with the hinge mount sanded down to allow the hatch to pass the vertical when open.jpg (27.76 KiB) Viewed 3398 times

- Here you can see the two holes which fit over the lugs on the underside of the upper hull.jpg (26.17 KiB) Viewed 3398 times

- This is how it works once the modificiation is finished....jpg (29.7 KiB) Viewed 3398 times
Good luck!

Latest small upgrades added.
The might not be perfect but happy with wiring smoke launchers.
I added a small bracket, from brass etch, to the cable on the turret.
Feels like closer to painting time
