Yes, what's inside the box is a resistor, or heating coil if you will. There is a large piece of what looks to be cotton that lays on the bottom of the box. Attached to the resister is a wick. It looks like a small version of an oil lamp wick. Here are the tanks that I am using them in. Torro King Tiger, 2x Taigen Tiger 1 and a Taigen Pershing. There is plenty of room in the above tanks for the Tarr MK I. I tried fitting them to a Torro KV-2 and a Taigen T-34/85. The T-34 is doable but I need to re-arrange the out put plumbing similar to what the stock smoker has but just haven't been to the hobby shop to find some suitable tubing. The KV-2 will need a little engineering due to the fact the smoker needs to be mounted in the hardware for the quick release system. A possible remedy for that would be to remove the quick release system and use magnets to hold the upper hull to the bottom hull. I measure the MK I smoker at 37.5mm wide 51.96mm long and 41.17mm tall, including the fan.Kiaser wrote:Thanks jtracks
As you suggested I have 2 on the way just a quick question have you opened them up to see internal construction ? And just roughly how big is the metal box with fan ? .
What is your opinion and advise to what rc tanks will fit this unit maybe as a idea for everyone so they do not make to many errors with there wallets to be disappointed and give up due to failure , fire or both and a range of costs to work within everyone's budget .
So v3 works with addition of y cables for channel CH1 and CH2 for tamiya leo .
TARRmk 1 metal box version as suggested by jtracks HL,Tamiya 1/16 and exact selected model this will fit .
It seems metal is the way to go I'm coming to the conclusion that making things cheap in terms of plastic ABS or PVC seems to be in hind sight a huge error I understand blah blah , to keep costs down
But seriously as you all can appreciate I value my tanks and I guess the same for many the amount of time and effort everybody contributes to creating them for the sake of keeping costs down for smoke really doesn't make any sense if you want smoke then it should not be of a material that can melt or catch fire ? , FAIL yes!! , it is a recipe for disaster eg , "Giving a child matches to play with and saying it is okay it is safe ".
So I gather for ww2 tanks etc this would be a excellent fit for these brands eg H/L , Taigen,Tamiya
Just getting inputs and making informed choice for the right model rc as some fit and others do not which would be the case for tamiya leopard not much room in there so i am hoping to come up with suggestions and rc variants from your vast knowledge and expertise for the sake of those out there not familiar with this area and are contemplating having a go at upgrading .
