Ha ha Europe! Sorry dude am in UK, get my batteries from ebay, usually get turnigy lipo's, if your going for nimh batteries I have no idea, I guess name brand ones but best place to get info is review sites or ask the question on here, you should get some useful answers, let me know how it goes!

OK went to the local RC shop last night, they didn't have any batteries in 7.2v!!! What they did have was super expensive so I'm ordering a couple Lipo's off the internet. Question is this: should I get the 5000mah or would a smaller value (I think they had 4400 and 4000) be just as well?? Will I need to get a different charger as well?? I just have the Heng Long charger that came with the tank. It is a 7.2v 400mah charger and I noticed the lipo's are 7.4v???? Thanks

Yeah you will need a new charger dude, I use a hobby king eco6 but there are lots of other chargers available, just make sure you get one that's designed for lipo's / nimh/ nicd etc then you have all battery types covered, lipo's are a slightly higher voltage but its only 0.2v so wont hurt anything, I would advise getting a lipo alarm as these bleep loudly letting you know when your battery has dropped to 3v or less per cell (running a lipo flat will damage it, as will over charging it hence you need the right charger, DON'T plug it into the heng long one! ) as for capacity I would get the largest you can afford and that will fit! Lipo's come in alot of different sizes so measure your battery compartment first and check dude! Also make sure you get one with a Tamiya plug adapter or buy one separately.

Thanks again tank82. I really appreciate the help. I'll get the new batteries and charger to match. Is the Tamiya plug the standard plug that HL uses??? I'm sure I can cut the plug off the tank and replace it to match the new battery if needed or does the adapter allow me to use different plugs from different batteries???

Yeah heng longs use a standard Tamiya plug, you can cut it off to match the battery plug but an adapter saves doing that, but its upto you some people prefer a certain type of plug for one reason or another

Cool. Thanks for all the help. I'll let you know how it goes once the batteries arrive. I'm going to try tackling the smoker and may have more questions for you. Until then, I'm already looking at picking up another tank!!! What do you think would be a good 2nd tank??? I like WWII so I'm thinking the HL Sherman with all the upgrades??? Some things just can't be helped....

Shermans are good to though, or even a t34, to be fair just have a look round and get what you would enjoy and see what you can do with it! Plenty of painting/build guides in here to give you inspiration! And you could always get a tiger 1!

That looks great. You did a real nice job with the airbrush for your second time. I've been using one for 20 years on small scale (1/160) stuff so I need to re-train myself for this big scale!!! I can't wait to start detailing one out. Thanks for all the help and inspiration.

I don't think there is that much difference with the larger scale and airbrushing, I guess if you have been doing it that long should be a breeze for you! Be good to see the results when you get round to it dude
