anyhoo on with the build up then
I got to putting the batt box together and plugging everything into the 4 Motor Control Unit
so that I can be sure all works before going any further (so apart from the initial electrical test I will follow the instructions)
I think the instructions are easy enough to follow

Puramo, I am following this closely. I've often thought of trying one of these 1/35 Tamiya kits. And as far as too many pictures, NEVER.

PS Were the electronics part of the kit or were they a separate purchase. Thank you for any information you can supply.

Go for it. Your pics are welcomed. I'd like to see the build progress. I built a lot of 1/35 models while my eyesight was able to focus in the small parts. Only one was motorized and had only tracks that moved and it had a wired remote.

I've still got the first one of these RC 1/35 'updated' versions that Tamiya came out with a little over a decade ago. The Tiger1 ( naturally ;o) It still works perfectly tho' the rubber tracks supplied have hardened and I am contemplating either a new pair or something like the Fruilmetal set. Tamiya certainly has updated these with full MFUs and turret main gun elevation. Following along with this fascinating build.

A 2 stroke triple, not the Kwak ? by any chance, they were madder than a bucket full of frog's.

@Joe the kit is 100% complete, just add time, engergy, glue, paint etc, so yes all electronics are included but not batteries

@Painless (I think M*A*S*H is brilliant too) I am thinking of getting that old T1 and the KT could you tell me how it is to operate them ? You know better than me but I would think steel tracks would kill those little motors, maybe some new rubber tracks or try boiling the old ones for a few minutes to see if their elasticity returns...)

The build is slowing down as I am trying to incorprate an active suspension system and have 2 ideas I'm tinkering with, one involves the whole unit pivoting, the other each separte arm pivoting against a block of rubber (but involves removing the arms from the assembly) I prefer the 2nd option but it's more fragile, so I'm going to try the whole unit pivoting first...

Thanks very much for the tip on boiling the old tracks. I'll have to give that a try. Running the older Tiger 1 is pretty much like the newer ones I would surmise. The controller looks somewhat similar but uses push toggles instead of joysticks and there is no elevation control.

Painless cheers, I come across them now and again, if I see a bargain I would be tempted to grab one
no time really now for this so I'm rushing the pics up - I can't put all the wheels on and test the workable suspension until I paint the sides of the hull, which will need mud and weathering etc, but the mod looks to be solid, pix to follow later, on with the build

It may be too late for this build but get yourself down to a Flea Market or electronics shop and pick up some old speaker covers. There is a wealth of the material designed to keep dust out of speakers on those. Cut to size and Bob's your Uncle. It won't muffle the sound like tape. Even nicely engineered stuff like Tamiya produces can benefit from an upgrade. This works well with any Hobby speaker like HL or Visaton as well.
