Not sure your modeling level but the removal of that ring shouldn't be too hard. Take yours apart and look at the underneath of the upper hull and if you can't see where the ring is molded into the upper it either pops off or can be sanded off. The grills are only a small cover and can be removed, possibly trimed down and reused. If not new ones are not expensive in brass.

I'll tell you what Trackpin once I get my Henchel turret I'll make a how to on fitting it to the Porsche upper. Give me like a week or 2 till the parts get here and I'll do my best to walk you thru it. :D

No, in principle you're right, jackalope...
...the greatest changes are the turret protection ring and the grill covers.
Unfortunately also wrong in this drawing, this little cover behind the engine flap. :{
A Porsche version has there an round grid, sometimes a high round cover but a Henschel version has there only a flat round metal plate.
