Airbrush woes (2nd hand Badger 150)

The nozzle parts are now soaking in terpentine, after removing the little plastic o ring. I've put a little bit of glue on it to re-seal / thicken it a little bit, and I'll test again tomorrow.

Right on! ...did your friend give you the tip wrench?

My Badger doesn't have the provision...but if yours does use that to tighten the tip assy... tighten till something comes out then stop too much and you might strip the threads

It's all clean, all passages are open, the pressure is good, the head is tightened quite well (any more and I fear I might break something), the air comes out fine, the action is smooth - ... and still it's not working. I feel like I'm making a simple beginner mistake somewhere but I just don't see it.

I'm going to hand it over to a buddy of mine who I see every thursday who has the same type or airbrush and knows basically all there is to know about them. I'm going to let him take a look at it, see if he can't figure out what the problem is.

It's all clean, all passages are open, the pressure is good, the head is tightened quite well (any more and I fear I might break something), the air comes out fine, the action is smooth - ... and still it's not working. When you pull the trigger back..what happens? ...does the air bubble in the cup?

When I press the trigger down a good amount of air, under pressure, comes out the nozzle. The airflow is unrestricted.
When I press the trigger down and pull it back, no paint is sucked up. The air just keeps on coming out.
When I block the nozzle with my fingers or loosen the most forward part of the nozzle, the air bubbles in the cup.

Are you sure the needle is moving back when you pull the trigger?...everything sounds right at the moment...the only thing I can think of is that there is a mismatch of the needle and the flow cone...which would translate to the needle seeming like it's pulling back...but not far enough
Troubleshoot for that would be to take off the rear cover ...loosen 51-010 ...press the trigger down for air flow...and manually pull back the needle ..and see if something comes out of the flow cone...if it does...push a tad forward...tighten 51-010 at that point...as that would be the flow cut off point

Nope, still doesn't work. Testing it with water, none is coming out.

I'll just give it to my buddy this thursday, see if he can get it to work.

Just took another look at your photos Lert...I noticed something about the body...one thing you might try before handing it off to your buddy is to seal the area that the cup plugs into...just a thin coat of crazy glue will do...right were the body joins with the cup pocket...in the photo it looks like there might be some corrosion..so there might be an air leak there
