ALPHA, My very good and learned friend I apologise for failing to offer my and Jan's best wishes for this New Year, We both hope that you and yours have an even better year than that which has passed.
Mika suggests that NITROTEK have not treated him badly, Well they certainly misrepresented the product, because you can bet all the Volcanoes in the Friendly Islands that they never said anything about this abortion first seeing light on HENG LONG's drawing board and it had never served in the Second or indeed any other war. I get very annoyed that people with the best of intentions get taken by shysters like this thereby putting every other dealer under suspicion, when we know that most of them are totally trustworthy, grrr grrr

I hear you loud and clear WO2c.....I feel fortunate to have found this board in the early entry into RC tankery....where both the recommended and blacklisted seller lists did come in handy
Unfortunately the Pantiger is still being produced....I wouldn't be sure if they are sold at a lesser rate to vendors...but I do agree...as I've seen vendors on EBAY...title the vehicle as a Pantiger...which is a much more honorable practice ...but really in many cases it's really up to the person making the purchase...as most listings have photos
Making decisions on such things is tricky for entry level modellers
I've never dealt with Nitro tech...thanks to the board...so it's hard for me to condemn them on their business practices...with that said...the best way to conclude is
CAVIAT EMPTOR...or buyer beware

...The most logical answer is that there is still a large population out there just getting into the hobby...and have not found the benefits of joining a board like this

Hi Alpha,
Yea it's hard when you get our members getting ripped off like this. Be nice to be Abel to stop it but how that's the question.I think it is that so many of the outlets are not or seam not to be restocking this is when they go to the bad traders who have what they want there's no easy answer. Brian...

Hi, Brian Happy New Year, I think the main problem is that both Nitrotek and Tankzone advertise using glossy attractive pictures full of information that pursuede's the reader that these people are experts and can there-fore be trusted, unfortunately the people who read these ads have not heard of the Forum because it does not advertise, How did any of us find out about the Forum? Big glossy ad in a modelling magazine? No, but they did learn about Tankzone and Nitrotek exactly like that, and there is the problem, we epitomise the slamming of the stable door after the donkey has escaped. I do not see an easy answer.

jarndice wrote:Joe, Hi, Happy New Year, I am pleased to say I have never owned a PAN TIGER, what I do know is that it is a bastardisation of a PANTHER BODY and a TIGER HULL, the front of the Panther body had to be altered to accommodate the motors and gearboxes of the Tiger hull, so that what is needed is the sprockets and idlers from the Tiger part of this abortion. If it were up to me, I would break it down to it's components and use the bits in other builds.

Shaun, Happy New Year to you also my friend. I continue to learn from people like you, ALPHA, PainlessWolf, and many others here. You lead me towards acquiring the correct lights for my Panzer IV. ALPHA with it's suspension problems, and Painless helped with my Pershing. Paul (Scalawag) before his departure, with encouragement towards making things I place onto my tanks take on that scale look. Thank you my friends for all of your knowledge. I can only hope I will be able to pass it forward some day.

In a way Briz...that's how I came to be here....seems both Phil and I wanted the HL T34 when it was first released...after ordering mine...I googled the tank to see if there were any reviews on it.... found a photo Phil had taken... he had not received it yet...but got it from the same seller I got mine from...He got his a little before I did...but I think I ordered it first....That...and how that vendor used EBAY as a Bait and switch...added to the kind of answers I got from the vendor when it came to the arrival of my tank...did raise an urge to warn others about them...It isn't that they are unreliable ...it's just that they aren't the best people to deal with....after I signed up...I made a post in the Blacklisted vendors...and read the reviews on others ....reason I think both threads are beneficial to anyone who is interested in entering the hobby
Somehow some of the sellers of the Pantiger have gotten the word...and do label it as the Pantiger...Some don't...I think it depends not so much on the professionalism of a vendor.... as some vendors aren't at the level of selling their products based on specifics ...In this case maybe Kae did get ripped off...as Nitro tech is supposed to be a specialized shop...but there are vendors who sell just to sell
Nothing is perfect ...especially when one party doesn't inform...and the other doesn't realize the difference ..the lessons are numerous...so sometimes instead of pointing out the lessons... it's good to know there are alternatives
