Well with luck and time bogeyman one of my halftracks will be loseing it's rear guns and being made into something else maybe a covered truck is the easy option but who knows

First thing to change is to take the plastic mudflaps off! Take it over any kind of bumps off road and those things dig in and stop it dead in its half tracks. I'm gonna make my own out of one of the black bottle cap grippy things that are very soft flexible rubber that way no more getting stuck.

Also I'm not liking the limited slip rear that drives the tracks, once one looses traction a little and it gets stuck I'm guessing because the front axle doesn't help drive the truck. So unless some place makes a front diff and transfer case to drive the front axle I'm gonna need to find a way to give the rear less slip so it doesn't get stuck as easy. I don't want to lock the diff as it'll make turns more difficult.

Also when it does get stuck it throws the track that spins pretty quick, but its easy enough to pop it right back on.

The plastic seems a little more brittle then the stuff on the tanks and I still haven't been able to get the driver in his seat because of the steering wheel and shift levers.

All in all not a bad truck but maybe a little over priced IMHO at the $277 shipped that I paid. I feel this is more like a $150 to maybe $200 truck but all this means is this will be my only one I get.

150 used to the top price for one of those... but because they went OOP... the price is well inflated... reason though I like it...I stay away from it
it's frustrating watching old youtube videos of that halftrack...guys saying they got it for like 50 to 70 dollars bidding on EBAY

Didn't realize it was no longer made now I understand the price tag better. Thanks Alpha.

5 years ago I think they retailed for around the £50 mark in the UK, the price soared when production stopped. The same goes for the Indiana Jones trucks, they were under £10 each in Toys R Us, they sell on Ebay for close to £100 now?? Wish I had bought ten of them when I had the chance. As for the 21st Century Flak 88's and Hanomags, you may as well carve one out of gold bullion, it would be cheaper...

As for those with other half's who don't understand the hobby...

I just got one of the 1/18th Pak 40s in 'Extreme' edition as a reward for (over)use of my Amazon card. *chuckles* I'll have to do a German halftrack or truck to pull it around with next year. It wasn't that pricey, around 39.00 US.

Trumpeter makes the US halftrack...same as the remote version just the guts have been replaced with detail
