Wingnut I beg you to think again about TANKZONE, I refer you to the BLACKLIST, there are plenty of other dealers out there on the RECOMMENDED DEALERS list including www.welshdragonmodels.com who will sell you a PANZER 4 metal hull and all the other bits and pieces you might need, TANKZONE owes me £470 and that's from way back, AVOID!!!   shaun

Wingnut I am absolutely with you on smoke machines, I have made this point before but it is worth saying again, A properly serviced tank engine once it has warmed up will not make smoke. the last thing a Tank commander needs is to give away his position by making plumes of smoke! shaun

:haha: :haha: :haha: Nothing like a little ribbing to open up WO2c's affection for the Panzer IV...usually he's very reserved...and speaks mostly about his Tiger
I actually would listen to everything Shaun has to say Wingnut .. :D

Did you paint your panzer your self jtracks?
Yes I did the painting. It was my first try with an air brush. The camo colors are OK, but they are blended, not what other tanks here look like. I must have the purists rolling their eyes.

Here are some photos of my Panzer IV...not necessarily the blueprint you would want to follow lol....as it isn't the most detailed...I model my tanks to a different drummer so to say...I did do a mod to the front of the turret and the gun mantlet...as well as the suspension
Image
and also modified the antenna location...utilizing the stock HL antenna

Photos are just a little before final paint ;)

ps. If you compare the top photo with the bottom ...you can see the difference in the turret mantlet merge...did the mod after staring at some photos of the actual
Panzer IV ;)

I like your antenna detail ALPHA. Speaking of antennas, how long should they be on these tanks? Also, what do you all use for antenna wire?

Hey there Jt...been modding the stock HL antennas for awhile now...the one on my Panzer IV is just another version ... a realistic one would be more or less around 5 inches long...but do that only if you are running a 2.4 gig rig...My Panzer IV still has the crystal unit in it...so I still need the length...once I convert it...I will cut it

Thing is ...that's a big maybe on cutting my antenna...you see I don't do Historical replication...the story that I model my tanks after ...the "flag" tanks have banners on long antennas...so to me it looks fine long :D
