You want to jump into 1/6th

It looks like a lot of plastic. If you realy want to go 1/6 you may as well go ASrmortek or something similar. I paid about £2,000 for an Armortek late tiger 1 with every option. Sold one of the unwanted options for £400 So in the end have a very nice model for £1600. Not a good idea if you need to negotiate stairs though.

Hey thanks for the input John.... especially coming from you... I know you have a lot of experience with these big models...so these have a lot of plastic? ... I remember another member searching for one and when he found it a good majority was metal...this one looks to have at least a metal upper..there's a ding on a fender and you can see the raw cast metal under the paint


anyway...I kind of posted this for fun...I'm sure there are others on Ebay lol...this one popped up on me while browsing

If I could get an Armortek Tank for even 4k USD I would pounce on it faster than anything. In all my 222 was about 5k USD.

£2,000 is a steal, I can't imagine getting a deal like that outside local collection in the UK. Right now the Tiger Armortek is selling, without motion or any kits, just the model, is just about 6k USD.

Alpha, that model is without a doubt fiberglass and wood. You can see some of the "open" sections and the building materials. Very little actual metal inside that Tiger.

This is much less a model, and more of a toy for paintball battles or that sort of thing where you don't mind getting your tank thrashed. It serves the purpose in that way but as a model it needs way too much to get it correct. Check out the weight, it's only 100lbs, far less than an Armortek style metal tank.

I agree John...in some way something just doesn't look right...kind of like there's a coat of Gelcoat over the whole hull...so much could be said about the guy who put it together...don't think it's the seller...in a way the auction reads like an estate sale or something..like they are just liquidating stuff

Seems to be the consensus

1/6 scale is still BIG though...I can see both why people don't go into it..as well as why people do

I confess I have never been attracted to 1/6 it is too big to be portable and unlike 1/16 there is a marked shortage of detailed upgrades available, so you have to make your own which in that scale is going to be tedious whereas in 1/16 the Tank is easily moved about but big enough to display all the detail of the prototype, having said all that I would love a Tank in a bigger scale but 1/6 is a halfway house that is not markedly bigger than 1/16 BUT oh how I would smile at having 1/4 scale Tiger 1, And I would be the most popular Grandfather in the world as my 4 year old Grandson drove it around the yard accompanied by the screams of horror from his Granma I am inclined to think that some of my antipathy toward 1/6 scale is jealousy bred by the knowledge I will not have the money to buy one or the space to keep it shaun
