You might also consider using one of the diecast Highway 61 1941 Ford trucks as a basis for a build. A little creative engineering will allow you to use the Radio Shack RC parts you have, and I have found that the Losi Micro Rock Crawler axles are narrow & beefy enough to work, (plus. if you make it 2wd, you can fit the receiver & battery under the hood, which leaves the entire bed for a Flak gun or something). Here's a link to a Highyway 61 firetruck version:

They can get pricey, but still come up for reasonable costs, if you're patient (especially those that no longer have a box - which shouldn't matter to you if you're going to rebuild it). Add a Notek light and repaint it, and you have a German Ford V3000. As a matter of fact, Bob (the halftrack link you were talking about) has sold repainted ones in the past. Here's a link to some of the ones he's done:

Hey man I have to go look I have 2 old Highway 61 trucks wonder what years they are, I don't remember anymore. 1 is a Chevy flatbed the othe a Chevy fire truckif they're old enough I'll make my own!
Just checked, both are 1941 trucks so that might work. Did the German's have any Chevy trucks back in the 40's?

I don't think so, but the one that Panzerpaul repainted certainly looks the part!

Hmmmmm...... I wonder if I could change the grill or even make it covered with armor and make it look like a German truck. I may have to try it being the trucks just sit on a shelf in my garage and collect dust.

I can vouch for Bob, I have run a few battles with him and the NEAD club in new Jersey. If he says before X-mas - he will do everything in his power to get it there...
