Newbie help and opinions wanted.

Billpe - cheers for the links etc, I am from UK and had some good responses from Uk suppliers. Will start looking for Ebay bargains.

Don't be afraid to ask about experiences with various suppliers. I'm in the UK but will order from from Axels in Germany amongst others because most of the big freight firms have the same fees for delivering within the UK as delivering to and from two different EU nations and of cause as we're both in the EU there are no duties or taxes to consider. As soon as you start delivering from outside the EU to inside you have import duties to contend with and might have to pay VAT as well which can raise the cost significantly (the EU isn't all bad, in fact if you want to buy from another EU country the no duties or taxes means its no different to buying within the UK).

If you order outside the EU its worth checking what duties you'll need to pay and what freight services they use or you can ask here. However this is part of owning and upgrading these tanks, you'll often need to source parts from around the world. I often order from Mitosal.com in Singapore but they use Fedex airfreight so you get your item around 48-72 hours after you pay them and Fedex take care of the duties (you pay them via Mitosal) for you making it all round a simple and quick service. Most of this doesn't apply to ebay though as its personal to personal rather than business to personal. Can you tell I once worked in goods distribution?

tanks for memory (brilliant name) - you are spot on, it is the build that intersts me. I think saving up for the Tamiya is the way forward. I think currently a Tiger (I can hear all the sighs as I don't mention a specific one)

I am curently reading my way through some relevant WW2 history to get an idea of the tanks and which grab my interest.

I was a recruit a year ago... ...Not sure I'll be much help with Tamiya's ... I'm an old dog... those tiny parts boggle my mind... I do enjoy watching others have fun with them though... it's what the hobby is all about

Billpe I would offer a word of caution, today I received a parcel from Germany, so what you say? Only that it was ordered on the 5 August and two weeks ago yet again I received a parcel from Germany that the dealer discovered had been lost in Frankfurt by DHL in August and only through the hard work of "an-bri-rc-modellbau" (Andreas Brinker) that I got the product, so you see German dealers may be wonderful but don't rely on their postal service. shaun

Just make sure you know who the freight is done by and get a tracking order in the conformation email. Problem solved. Axels provide those.

Hi Here is one most have over looked Hobbyboss Tiger 1 , a good kit to build it is a static model but can be converted to R.C. you can also upgraded the tracks if you go down the R.C route .Cheap to buy and can upgraded when funds are available.

Have seen one done runs well (they tend to be a little light just like the WSN)but it will run well on grass and indoors (stay out of the deep mud)
