Actually i got this KT from hobbytron, it said "Airsoft" brand. I'm guessing those are just Heng longs rebranded?jackalope wrote:What brand is your tank? I have a Taigen KT with metal tracks, idlers and road wheels and sprockets and it runs great! Much much better then my H/L Tiger did when I first got it! I think the H/L and Taigen hulls are the same if so you shouldn't have any problems with the metal upgrades.
I played hell finding the hardened metal geared gearboxes which would be what you want to go along with the metal running gear. Curtis from Immortal Hobbies had the 4.1 steel gearboxes and was great to deal with, I'd check with him.
This was my first tank and i made the classic first mistake, I under-bought. The tank cost me $140 and I went for the cheaper one. Did not know how much I would get into the hobby or I would have bought something better equipped. The cheap Rx drove me nuts, failed in less then a week, before i learned how fragile transmitters are, and wasted lots of money and time ordering parts in a futile effort trying to fix that junk. Finally just went and got the 2.4Ghz systems from amazon (the TPA store tests them before they send them to you, and their customer service is excellent, to me its worth spending more to not get DOA parts from some shady seller that won't back their own products) and there is no going back after that. It's the difference between a functional tank and a display model. I just can't make the Rx18's work and it's not worthwhile to try.
