I had a thing when I started that I didn't like the camo colours touching and they had to have some of the base colour between them I've since realised this is nonsense (not for your scheme though) and in most cases it not the camo makes the tank but the weathering. A lot of German camo when field applied was very rough so as long as your weathering is good you can get away with a multitude of sins. Hard edged camo is is a different kettle of fish.

Just my thought ..the camo is not ' hard edged ' enough ....its too much of a fade .

Thanks again for the good comments all-I knew many minds are better then one! Mcevoyi you gave me a great idea, pinpointed the thing that was bothering me. But I couldn't identify it until you pointed it out. The edges ARE too faded. While the camo colors are the approximate shade I want (I believe the camo paint on the real tanks must have begun to fade in a matter of weeks in the field, to some degree or another, combined effects from weather, wear and tear, crew climbin on it etc.)but the object of all the weathering job we do is in the end, to simply fool the human eye. Since the inner blobs of the camo are already too faded, and if i now do a pencil thin spray of full color, on the blobs outside edges basically tracing them, that may give me the effect i am looking for.

Latest Effort: Sharpening paint lines and breaking up large color areas. i retouched the green fuzzy edges with airbrush set for thinnest lines possible and broke up the larger color areas with base sandgelb using the same method. I have just finished, paint fumes still in me head and I just don't know. I will just leave this here a while. I feel first impression is i'm getting warmer. Or maybe i should just stop now.

Good Morning,
Much more defined. A pin wash and overall darkening filter should complete this to your satisfaction!

I think I'm at an impasse. Might be about the best I am capable of doing. STILL doesn't look quite right! But perfect the enemy of good enough...I'm done with this for a while, here's the final incarnation, I'm gonna leave it for a bit and maybe forever. It's getting a bit ridiculous with this one. Probably about good enough and that's where I better leave it.

It looks fine. Decals, tactical numbers, balkenkreuz, a filter, some pin wash, maybe some dust and it will look good ;)

A thought came to mind Marc... first off you didn't seal it again right?.... Something that came to mind as I thought about your first paint job... though it looked ok to me on the screen.... it may not have looked that way when you look at it.... It's called "FLASHING"....Flashing occurs when you dilute clears ... combined with the air pressure coming out of your airbrush... it will flash and become a little opaque ... it can ruin a good paint job...and usually doesn't really show on photos
So if you do reseal ...get some Tamiya retarder.... or reduce the clear less ;)
