So a few updates, got the camo on decided to go for a normandy version, based it on flory modesl 242 so a big hat tip there, found the site really really helpful.

So this was the first time that I really used my airbrush to do anything meaningful, couple of things I learned.

The airbrush is my friend. Have viewed it with suspicion for long enough, really enjoyed using it
Thin the paint properly, lower pressure and correctly thinned paint gave me the best results.
Many thin coats were better than a thick coat as this avoided pooling.

Also drybrushed some silver on the wheels and gave them a wash with some burnt Umber, photos dont really get it across very well.

Have put a wash on to give some depth to the zimmerit, turned out ok. Have got a filter to do next to tone the camo down a bit and blend it then. Will see how that goes.

Evening all, have had a bit of nightmare tonight. Ordered the 242 decals from rctank.de and tried to put them on the tank. The numbers didn't sit right at all, even using Microsol, they looked broken, shiny and basically awful. Have removed most of them, going to have to be some remedial painting to sort it out. Really wish I had used the stencils and found this thread first,

Will be really pleased if my efforts look half as good!!

Might have to be a change in number though, 231 looks to be the closest camo and markings. Any tips on using the stencils?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the comments really appreciate it. I have caught the bug over the last few weeks, so much so that I have invested in a panther g for afterwards, really enjoying myself at the moment.

I have done quite a bit over the last few weeks, have stencilled on the markings and numbers, went with tiger 231, got the stencils from rctank.de who are excellent. Have chipped up the paintwork, done a filter, added a few washes, then done some fading with oils. Have added wood effects to the tools and got the c hooks and jack painted and dry brushed. Aber antenna bought and just need the base when wdm have it back in stock. Need the schumo aa mount and mg34, however can't find the aa mount in stock, axels don't have it. Next up I am going to do some grime streaking, got the ak grime and going to give it a whirl.

My question is about dry brushing, have done a lot of reading, learning what to do and this forum has been the best, all of this is new to me. Tony greenland dry brushed his entire tanks, flory models looks to have done the same. What would people recommend? Should I drybrush the entire tank? Should I do the Zimm as well? With it being tri tonal camo what's the best way to approach it, I was intending to do the muzzle brake, aa ring etc and the spare track links with metallic silver to add depth, if I do the entire tank do I do it with dunkelgelb? Even the green and brown?

HI all,

finally got around to taking some pics, i have added some streaking effects to the exposed surfaces using the AK streaking grime, going to do some more on the exhaust covers. Then its adding all the spare track links, tools etc, the end is in sight I think.

So here are some overall shots.

Done some close ups of the stencils and weathering etc. Please with how this turned out. The streaking was easy to do and adds quite a bit to the overall look.
