This is the Taigen 2.4Ghz MFU that you are talking about, right ? As far as I know and I did this to my entire Taigen fleet back when I was on it, you unplug the 5 pin that is going into CN2, and plug it into the MAKO, and then plug the 5 pin from the MAKO back into the Taigen MFU CN2 spot and that's it. (Well you still need to snip the motor wires for the ATRC).
Did Kev say what needs to be done in the turret ? I can shoot him an email too.........He was going to get back to me with some Hammerhead info so I will ask about it too.

Hi Michael
I think there could be a bit of misunderstanding between me and Kev. Obv Im happy with the taigen tank gun recoil and cannon flash but not the track recoil. can I just keep the original gun recoil and flash or do I need to wire up the complete mako2 board as this is where kev is saying I need to get to the wires in the turret to do this. If its a case of just using the mako2 board plug into the taigen and putting the taigen plug into the mako2 that's easy (also the motors too) is this the case ?
Thanks for answering what probably seems stupid lol
If you do a google search for Mako install instructions you should find a copy and can check it out. If you PM me your email address I can also send a copy as well. But as far as I know and I have done it on about a dozen tanks, you just unplug and connect Mako in between the CN2 connection on the MFU. The motor wires you will have to cut and connect it to the ATRC. Kevin makes this stuff so I don't want to over-ride him but unless I am missing something here MAKO is suppose to be plug and play (Sorry no pun intended but the ATRC you got is not plug and play from the get go).
hawkeye3guns,
Just in case you need more than 1, I also have some standalone ATRC ones and you can take them off my hands for the same price.

Ive done many google searches and his install vids only show him connecting all of the wires not just the one plug you have said ? this is why Im wondering if I need to rewire the whole mako board or just swap out the one plug you have said.
Yeah that's it. All the other wires are hook up to the MFU already. You just unplug CN2 and do what the video does and that's it. The ATRC plugs into the MAKO, and the motor wires splits and goes into the four terminal blocks. The only difference is that the ATRC you have doesn't not have a three pin plug at the end as it is design for the RX-18 which you have to wired directly into the MFU if you just want ATRC without MAKO.
You should google search for the PDF install file for MAKO a well.

That's good news one plug in and one plug out sweeeet..... maybe I should get one on order before I get to deflated about the whole thing lol
I thought it was only dragon and the one I have pictured are the only stand alone atrc available this is why ive been looking at the mako2. unless you can send info on your stand alone versions. apparently the taigen 2.4gh isn't a rx18 unit this is why the mako2 is don't purely for the taigen unit ?
Dragon is the one that is most popular but it only works for BBs since it uses the IR port (CN2) exclusively. I know that some webstore in Germany also have home made version of the ATRC but I have no idea how they work. When I said standalone, I meant like the one ATRC that you have. I used them in conjunction with Mako because I didn't want to bother with soldering onto the MFU, and it doesn't work with Taigen without the Mako anyway.
Like I said, if you are interested in used Mako with ATRC let me know. I am selling my leftovers for cheap.
Just as a disclaimer I have never install a standalone ATRC into any tanks, RX-18, Taigens or otherwise. What I do have is the same unit that you have which will work with Mako, but if you know how to make it work with RX-18 than I have some for sale that's all. I would imagine that you would solder the three wires to the power, return and the trigger which is well documented for the RX-18 but I have never done it myself.

Ok Michael
thankyou ever so much for your help. I will get a mako2 ordered asap as this seems to be the best choice after you explaining more clearly. Like I said before when you watch all the videos for the mako Kev probably shows what can be achieved with the board used to its full potential obv I don't need everything so it seems pretty simples
Sounds good. Just make sure you tell Kevin your set-up and he can tell you what you can and cannot used. He is a really great guy and I have great service from him always.

as long as I can keep all my functions and loose the dreaded track recoil that's all I need
I will ask him to program it to a taigen mfu as it states this on the website
