Very nice work Pete. I didn't think anyone could have made anything robust and workable out of those old Tamiya gearboxes - but you have.
Your engineering skills are brilliant mate.
Wish I hadn't broken mine up for spares now!
Cheers

Re: Tamiya Geaboxe Mods old type
Hi Chris have decided to try the Tamiya motors first see how they perform the gearboxes are now 100:1 which with a speed of 16,200 should give me a scale speed of about 12mph which for off road should be about right but its well down on top speed of 22/24 mph would need to put speed 400 6v motors and then they would only give me about 17mph the Tamiya motors have more torque so this is why Im trying them first .If its needed will alter to 80:1 but hope its not needed want to get a bit more done .

Re: Tamiya Geaboxe Mods old type
Hi Guys Finaly finished the gearboxes here are some photos.Ive also made a plate for the motors to sit on this should stop any flexing and keep the motors in place. The gearboxes are now 100:1 first runs will be with Tamiya motors .If my sums are right it will have a scale speed of about 12mph which is about right for off road and should have loads of torque ,But the top speed will be slow ,still tanks didnt run at top speed very much so I hope Ive got it about right time will tell when I fit them and able to run a test ,Have a couple of faster motors speed 400 6v and if needed can even get Jamara 480 long can motors in so can alter the speed and torque as I need to can also alter the gear ratio to 80:1 if need to .so if I want a racing tank I can but I perfer one that climbs .
