Hi You are correct undercuts, will induce extra stress, also adding radii will reduce stress to parts.
Most members will not know what a FEA is (Finite Element Analysis) stress engineering is not for modeller's of tanks (it may well be used in large aircraft models which do have to be certified by the CAA if they are over a certain size and weight )Best way to is use the old adage if it looks right it is right.(if it breaks beef it up)
