Hey there Francis... there are a couple sub categories you can switch this to...One is "INTRODUCE YOURSELF"...the other " RECOMMENDED VENDORS"

Thanks for the replies, especially to Shaun and Frank.

Shaun, thanks for the advice. The Vendor I was intending to use was not on the Recommended list but was featured on the Blacklist. I'm now trying to find out as much as possible about my next choice. Not on either of the lists so I will need to rely on my own judgement. Finding my first choice on the Blacklist gave me a sharp wake up call (thanks for that) so I will curb my impatience to get my hands on the 'new toy' and take more time over the ordering process.

Frank, this was exactly the sort of info I was hoping for. However, I then looked at the "Tips and Tricks" section and having found a suggestion for using Loctite, I looked at their site which lists a variety of different specifications for the same purpose. So, my next question: Which products do you chaps use for Franks 1st suggestion and, if Loctite, which product number or description?

I will need to do more reading about Franks second suggestion and will no doubt be asking some more detailed questions before attempting it.

I will not be mentioning all of your names but I've picked up useful bits and pieces from all of your replies and will definitely be following your advice. Well, .... most if not all of it.

Tim sorry about the frustration but better safe than sorry. Might I suggest you go to http://www.torro-shop.de
I assume your software will handle the translation? Just register as you do when joining any new site and as you see they use PAYPAL so your money is safe, scroll through their shop but do take care that you do not get mixed up between BB and I/R. they sell quality goods and are a very reputable dealer, you could of course go to http://www.welshdragonmodels.com
Steve is one of the most reliable of all dealers, many people think he only sells upgrades,he also sells Tanks, he will get you exactly what you want, and if he cannot he will point you in the right direction, then of course there is Dave at Forgebear you will find Dave and Julie at theallertons@fsmail.net
Dave just like Steve are members of the Forum and I would trust them with YOUR life! you can rely on these people. Give any or all of these people a try, you will not get ripped off I promise, enjoy the search, I often think it is one of the best bits of our hobby. shaun

Type Tiger in the search box... it will take you to many if not all of the tiger builds that where done here...to where you just might end up getting the Tamiya :haha:

299 for your Tiger? 8O That's kind of high for a Heng Long ...especially since the Taigen is only a couple of hundred more for the full metal version...because in most cases the Heng Long Tiger is very affordable ... usually under 200 with shipping ...even 99.00 on the continental US

Yes Francis ....Unfortunately it does....I was lucky in the beginning as most of my tanks then were Junked out broken tanks from a store that was closing... so I already knew though they were bargains... there was a lot of work to come.... turned out well as I was able to rejuvenate all but three which served well as parts tanks ...so my evolution began on a good note...once I found the forum... I found how much that evolution had to progress....I saw great things done.. very inspiring .... The one thing I've always kept is the knowledge of what is truly needed on one of these models

Some of the people have elaborate impressive electronics... some love the super detail....some have to have it as close as possible to the real thing ....it's sometimes overwhelming to a Newbie ...but the main thing that keeps me happy and steady with this hobby is...knowing the limits... of yourself ... and how far you might want to go with one of these models...presently I'm revisiting my days of scratch building and modification...as the genre I model (not historical) doesn't really require before mentioned attributes ... even if it could be said It makes it better

I find my Heng Longs more than satisfactory... as they give me the satisfaction and joy of the adventure...I don't need the fancy bobbles that can be seen close up... as I play with my tanks...and I can't see those trinkets from a distance...with that said...it does give others the same feeling I get to do such work pricey as it is

Bottom line... don't look back...if you do... do it only to see where yeu started from... remembering what you learned ...and what you have achieved..perhaps regret mistakes... but remember they were lessons that allowed you to progress

It is Truly an awesome Adventure Francis... I only hope you enjoy it as much as I do
