I did a minor rebuild of the HL Porsche King Tiger a couple of years back. It was my first attempt in years at serious modeling. Looking at the almost non existant build thread again, I can see that most of my work went into making the heavy duty metal tracks and sprockets work with the tank. It came with everything pre installed and a fair job had been done yet it took a then new Henntec style Idler wheels brace and adjuster and metal swingarms to get it to run properly. It was my biggest and heaviest tank to date until this KV-2 came along. Still runs perfectly but I will be revisiting it for paint and more detailing in the future. Probably switch to 2.4Ghz as well. I just ran 'In The Mood' in the back yard today and was amazed all over at the range and control of the new 2.4 set. The King Tiger can only benefit from one as well. And on the subject of King Tigers, have you seen the new Torro Henschel King Tiger coming out in the metal edition from Taigen? "Freaking Amazing" to borrow a phrase.

Hello Painless... the stock metal tracks is the reason I avoided getting that model... and waited once again for this one to go on sale.. again...with that said I think Heng Long may have gotten wind of their metal tracks being too tight...and have made improvements to the new generation coming out
I also should have done a little more research as I did not know about the new Torros or Taigen coming out...I know Heng Long also has a Herschel turret KT...saw that one on HobbyRaw's website...might have went for that one if it wasn't HobbyRaw... I just don't trust them with that kind of money

I do credit them for having new releases from Heng Long first..just don't like the way they do business
The KT itself sounds good though...as it will come fitted with the new gen 2.4 gig rig

(Notice of warning to those who are interested in this model.... I don't care for HobbyRaw...and don't really recommend them...it's better to wait this more reputable sellers have the tank than being the first one on the block to have one)
Have a good one Painless

Here you go:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsqpmZgCf8c I may have to get one of these. Everything seems to work on it regarding hatches and detail as well as having the full metal lower hull, etc. Sounds like parts will be available too for redos of existing King Tigers.

That is a nice tank Painless..only two things bother me about it... the molded on zimm... and that metal inhibits modification...but it does seem Taigen has taken that into consideration...and done just about everything one would want to do.... I like the metal chassis and running gear.. 4.1 gears too
No release date though...so just like the metal T34 and Mato Shermans... fall into the category of rumored eye candy

...How many King Tigers do you have now Horses???

...I'm really not sure why mine will be of interest... but it won't be for awhile...bought it now just because of the deal...I'll probably finish my JagdPanzer IV then decide between this one and the Panther...they will all be consecutive for sure...since the colors are pretty close to one another

Wavering now on whether or not this is a worth while project..... thinking about just saving it for a Krimbo Gift... and wait for the new Henschel Turret version to come out

Have everything needed for the refit of the old Tamiya.... just thinking it won't be worth the trouble
Opinions Please
Thank you in advance

Alpha,
You know better than that. If it is something that you want to do and the results will be what you have envisioned, then do it. Plus, to paraphrase, parts already in hand always beat two as yet unpurchased pieces of eye candy.

This is true Painless.... reason the quandary...essentially the Tamiya still works...it's just that it is the old system...you know the clutch drive no option version...what the chassis does have is the torsion suspension aluminum tub and metal wheels.... Which the Heng Long doesn't
What the Heng Long does have is a better hull and turret securing system... I like the Idea of screws ....
Thanks for the input...it really gets the wheels rolling
