Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
CA can always be sanded and covered with paint, don't worry. Treat the whole thing as a learning experience. Its looking good so far. My only comment would be I don't think there are weld lines around the gun shield.

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Removed the welds on the rear , after a little looking thru books they were inaccurate ,
No work on it today , spent the day swimming and drinking cold beers w friends.
I am not liking the fiefel cleaners they look too rough , any ideas how to smooth them out other than start again?
Also I am torn as to moving the turret back to proper position, anyone have the correct measurements for moving the hole back?
Final ? Fixing the turret bin, I am thinking just add plastic to the sides? Any other ideas. Thanks guys

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
The welds down the sides near the tow bars are right, theres a bunch of much smaller welds on the back which are very hard to spot unless you look at a freshly sand blasted one in detail! Its all a learning process though. Like all detail, do as much as you feel happy with. Not sure on the best method to smooth the aircleaners but If I was to do it, I'd build up some layers of Mr Surfacer 500 then use a sanding sponge (the Tamiya ones are excellent) to get a very smooth finish.

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Mark Hi, If you want information on building a Tiger 1, the best place in my opinion is to scroll down to Heng Long Builds and once there scroll down 5 items to Tanks for the memories" BUILDING A MID PRODUCTION NORMANDY TIGER 1 " it has all you could need including moving the Turret, by far the best Tiger 1 build on the Forum I think, but you seem intent on bettering it,Start on page one and trawl through to the end. After a short break which left people like me suffering withdrawal symptoms TFTM has resumed the build and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Hope that helps. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

I will Amen that mate............by far the most involved and hes not afraid to go backwads in order to go forwards(the Zimmerit is amazing) the content & detail, along with the "instruction" is a privelige to watch.
As with any build, its easy to beat yourself up over what can be done, but its always a learning curve no matter how complete the project seems.
As was the actual manufacturing process and developement of the real vehicle, hindisght is a truely wonderful thing seldom blessed to those building it.

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Thanks billpe
I will try the. Mr surfacer i have a bit on hand, just need to get some fine sandpaper.
I read tanks for the memories build a while back, I just bookmarked it and will go thru it again, he is a master, such detail.
Shaun there is no way I could better that
and I don't want to try to out do anyone :)it's not a contest to me , I am just having fun with this and want to do a halfway decent job
and the more help I get from you guys and reading is forum and other places the more enjoyment I get out of it.
Like Herman said there is a learning curve, and I have to go back a bit to move forward, like he air cleaners, they need work for sure. And not that they wouldn't work fine as is , it just seems to make me want to improve the more I do
it certainly is addictive, but strangely I am starting to enjoy it more and more
Thanks again to all of you for the help and inspiration
