Good video..... couple of questions though:

- Do you think I can do this without taking the suspension assembly off the chassis ? I assume that you have to remove the clip that holds the leaf springs together.
- Would it work if I just bend the second leaf spring but not trim it ?
- Does this "lift" the chassis up then before the mod, or simply give the boggies more give ?

NICE! good job... Mine works the same too..just a tad lower in profile ...maybe if the "V" bend you made is a bit shorter in the bend...but in a way I like the way yours sits better.. ...too bad Taigen didn't do the homework ...pretty disappointed in them considering what they are touted to be

Hi Michael...you should be able to...yes by removing the screw that holds the leaf springs in place...and yes removing the clip that holds the spring...

I think the reason why Sturnmd cut the spring was to remove ther "O" stop on the end doesn't look like it needs it ...hopefully he can clarify

It could be done without removing the suspension from the chassis: -Remove the clip by sliding it toward the back wheel
- You can then take the leaves off the assembly

I would cut the second leaf because the suspension is now using the leaf bundle as a stopper when on rest position

This mod also raise the suspension and give more ground clearance to the lower hull

It's quite a simple mod; here's another pic that can help:

I still have two sets of Asiatams that I used on the front of my L70 think I'm going to try your way and see how she turns out....might make the "V" a little smaller..so the front doesn't ride higher than the back

Thanks strmd45 but ALPHA's point about ride height is one of my questions. Would this mod make it higher than it is suppose to be ? Would the IV looks "jack-up" then ? Like ALPHA says I assume it all depends on how heavy it is and also how much of an angle you make on the second leaf and that's my worry. If I am free handing it which I am terrible at would I ruin the ride height ?

Those stock Taigens are terrible though... you have to do something...if you can wait a bit Michael... I can probably do my L70 and see... I just ran out of heng long springs ...so if this new way can work with smaller "V"s bent ...then the ride height can be adjusted in just that way

Makes you think though right... good spring steel usually cannot be bent without cracking....shows that the springs themselves aren't well made

In my opinion, the stock suspension is riding too low...

Even after softening the leafs, there's too much space between the wheels on each posts; leaving not enough between the wheels of 2 adjacent posts...

Trying to compress a suspension like this will result of the rear wheel of one post rubbing against the front wheel of the next post...

Here's 2 pictures comparing the space between the wheels to the real thing; before and after the mod.

Mine rides between the two... could be the reason adjusting the metal tracks were difficult...but I have to leave it be lol....as I don't know what I did with all the Taigen springs I took off
