OK..Going to clear this up for you.... If you got the money...the time...go with the tamiya... if you don't have the time or money get the heng long...if you want the WSN ... Get the trumpeter kit and RC it ...it's basically the same thing...but the kit will give you more detail parts...but if you really want a challenge and a great deal
get the MATO full metal Tiger... comes with 3:1 brass gears...you supply the rest of the internals
it costs a Hundred dollars more than the Taigen... the internals being your choice is the add on..so anywhere from 75 to 200 dollars more depending on how you go
your choice ...your dime
and by the way...all the flaws that Nick and Tom speak of that Heng Long has had in the past have been corrected on the New models so don't believe every pitch you hear...

Oh I didnt know theyd corrected the turret rotation axis problem that had everyone chopping the deck and turret base up and moving it. Or that they had stopped using the double width road wheels and were using the right wheel configeration .. The new internals are way better though no doubt about it ..the boxes have come on a long way and ive got them in loads of my other tanks. As Alpha says the metal Mato is neat but there seems to be a move away from all metal models in the ir battle groups with weight v performance issues and the performance over terrain ...the metal tracks grip too well in many instances giving grass cutting issues ... theres plenty of variety at our monthly Manchester meeting with over a hundred tanks in attendance you get to see the advantages and dissadvantages of each..It all boils down to what your comfortable with and what your abilities are but theres loads of help to be had

Yuppers...they corrected it about two years ago...also got rid of that nasty molded on shovel..now everything is nice...
so for about 200 more or less you can't really go wrong.... the WSN needs suspension...doesn't have smoke... machine gun fires when you raise and lower the gun...sound is not synchronized ... gearboxes are plastic... running gear is plastic... bottom line for me...though the WSN sells for about 150...you have to invest another 2 or 3 hundred to bring it up to snuff especially since there is no cure for the poor suspension without changing the hull ...which brings me to the point of "why bother" ... "I don't care if it has rubber on the running wheels " it just isn't worth it
Not to mention everything out there fits on the Heng Long... not so much the WSN...you might find that out once you start modding yours

Have you ever seen one in the flesh Alpha... youll find the suspension works a treat. Better than the Heng long and ive had them both working next to each other. Yes the electronics go straight in the bin but they should in the heng long too I modified mine over three years ago as I have with my other three. So as for I might find out when I start modding think youll find that ive got the t shirt on that one.as for you ranting on about plastic running gear its got lots of plastic as do Tamiya and heng long.... gearboxes so far have out performed many others as the meet guys will testify.. In the uk you can get a WSN for 50 pounds so even with a payout for a clark board you pay 115 all in ...It galls me that you must never have seen one in the flesh otherwise youd know the suspension works and to then criticise something you know nothing about is not on

As with everything Nick... to each his own... you like the WSN.. I don't no one could sell me one... I don't care if the proportions are better... the plastic is of poor quality (very thin)... which yeah adds up to what you pay for it ....but as I said before... if I'm going to go through the trouble of purchasing a WSN ...scrapping all the innards... I'll get the Trumpeter model and RC that... it's the best of both worlds as with the model you get the same thing but all the photo etch and other goodies with it...
With that said... I find the bashing of Heng Long by RC tankers tiring...especially when several who do do upgrades use their parts..you may not... but several others do.. ask anyone if they use WSN parts for upgrading... and you'll find a resounding neh
And as far as the suspension goes... I like coiled upgradable springs over pen like springs any day ...but like I said..too each his own... you do get what you pay for on both

I give the WSN that much... she is a looker... but the internals would die under the conditions I run my tanks through...I literally burned a left side gearbox of my Heng Long... the bearing actually fused to the axle.... the WSN would have cried and died a painful death under those conditions... The Heng Long was an easy switch to black steel gearboxes and has run fearlessly through everything....can't say you could do that with a WSN even if you did change out the gears.. the meager motors would just faint
So I guess it would boil down to ...if you are going to just look at the tank...or actually play with it... I play with mine..so I'll stick with the Heng Long ...the aesthetics can always come later ...
Have a great weekend Sir Canned... your word is highly respected by me... but I still wouldn't by a WSN...
