Hi The difference between the F type and the one which was going on the Panther 2 is the F type made by Asiatam is to narrow and a little short if you see the drawings you will see it .As for the gun which was going to be put I the Panther 2 it would have been the 75mm gun fitted In the G type turret. Like you say any other gun would have been to big and impossible to operate load (look at how big a King Tiger turret had to be to fire the 88mm). The lower hull would have been able to take the bigger gun .

Yes, I remember reading that the first IS tanks or "Stalin tanks" had that problem and they had to elevate the gun all the way in order to load it and so the rate of fire was very very poor.

I think there is a Panzer tracts which looks at the schmalturm, which was developed for a bunch of tanks including the Panther F and Panther 2.

The planned turret for the panther 2 wasnt the same as the one for the panther f. Was wider at the back. Jnewboy send me an email address and I'll email the panzertracts to you.

Yeah, the schmalturm was a concept rather than a specific fixed design. The dimensions are different but they all follow the same concept.
