This is a taigen turret with recoil, so the red cable coming from the turret is the permanent feed for the recoil unit, and nothing to do with the arial. This will need to be connected to the black lead from the main switch to the MFU or the recoil will not function.

In the middle of the rear deck between the exhaust stacks there should be a small brass post which the H/L arial fits onto. This should have a black cable attached to the bottom with a small screw which would the match up to the black wire from the receiver board. This wire from the rear deck seems to be missing. A pic of the rear deck would confirm this.

Scalawag - You are exactly right Sir!

Applelover - sorry for the misleading information I posted. I did not notice the recoil unit - my bad.

You will need to solder a length of similar size cable to the black power lead, and then find a way of joining this to the red lead from the turret. I know connecting a red cable to a black one sounds wrong but in this case it is correct. It is best to use some sort of connector to join the two as without you will not be able to remove the upper hull or turret completely should you need to in the future.
One inexpensive way I have achieved this is to strip about 2cm of the new lead from the switch. Tin it with solder, and bend it back against its own insulation. This should then push fit into the plug from the turret, providing you have used a thick enough lead. It needs to be a reasonably tight fit as the lead will flex as the turret turns, and if it is loose it will pull apart. Once connected the black shroud just pulls over the connector to protect it.

Sorry the pics are not that clear but they will hopefully give you the idea. I can't get you a decent pic of the switch end of the new lead as mine is bundled and tied in with other cables, but basically you just need to joint it to the black lead that runs from the power switch to the RX18 board.

Hope this helps

Does the red wire from the turret go on the main switch

Yes it does, but it must be connected to the BLACK side of the main switch. I know this does not sound right, but it is
