I guess they think they need to give it space so it will squeeze thru the mount and then the hex screw will push it back out and tighten it, but it could have just been a tube with threads or a brass slave to prevent it from splaying out. Bad design that's all. This thing will never be a battler or go miles and miles so replacing spare parts it will be.......

As the "restorer" on this one I have to say it is quite possibly the worst model including the dozens of plastic ones I have built over the years. You touch it, it breaks! :-<

Think about it, the suspension concept is that you "wedge" the split suspension arm (which is threaded on the inside) into a a metal 1/2 loop in the chassis on the inside of the hull. This squeezes the split arms together a little so the Hex screw threads in properly and actually pulls the suspension arm into the loop housing tight. BUT they made this whole assembly out of pot/white metal! >:< >:< >:< So you either strip the threads trying to get it in tight or like what happened here one the split pieces broke off completely.

Michael is right, museum piece! :haha:
