Your tank is excellent...really fine work! I'm sure you had a reason for leaving off the skirts looks almost naked without them ha... I'm trying to figure out a way to make the skirts on my tiger and KT look just a little banged up but have not tried it yet...since that kind of change is forever and I'm worried I'll go too far and botch the job I'll probably never get around to it.

I have seen one or two wartime photos of KT s with that hard edge paint scheme, you have to wonder what the real story was with that.

Hard edge Ambush/hinterhalt was factory applied Marc, OKH ordered it for a period to standardize things. The pattern depended on the factory. The best example is with the panther, one factory had one pattern, the other had their own pattern. You can tell where the tank was made based on this.

Thanks Billpe I didn't know that. ..I just thought the Germans only had the one factory for making these tanks. The same factory that the allies bombed and bombed over and over again because they were apparently so (justifiably) concerned about any more of these super-tanjs getting manufactured. There were 1500 king tigers planned (by optimistic types no doubt) but they were only able to manufacture 450...and most of these few never made it to the battlefield (perhaps several just broke down on the factory driveway and blocked the others?) I'd guess more KTS were lost from fuel shortages and breakdowns then enemy action - a book I have says the authors research was unable to find ANY king tiger that ever had its frontal armor penetrated by any anti tank weapon.

Vonmarshall Can you tell me how you weathered the road wheels? They look great!

I recall this thread when I first signed on and was highly impressed then and kept the photos for reference because of the remarkable build and beautiful paint. I'm even more impressed today. Beautiful example of the King. Nicely done.

Per another thread I initiated under General Discussion discussing "hard edge" camo schemes, my question is: by what method did you apply your hard edge scheme?
