WOW! That is one hell of a bulge! :wtf:
And they charge extra for these tanks??? This comes down to the lesser of 2 evils I think. Without physically touching one and looking inside I am thinking sand the bulges down until the plastic is paper thin and then styrene or brass sheet across and and cover and fill it all in behind. I'm not sure about grinding boxes but that may help too and allow you to sand the bulges down further. I would smooth this lower plate down and just add a few patches of zim. It didn't last on this surface very long anyway. So the final angle will be a little steeper but better than that ugly bulge....

Good Evening,
You've already related the easiest ways to fix the bulge. I would add an aftermarket lower hull that would stiffen it up a good deal and give you metal tracks, road wheels, etc. I almost bought one of these some time ago and now, after seeing how off it was in proportions to the Tamiya, I'm kind of glad I didn't. By the way, that is the Matorro Jagdtiger, supposedly not a Heng Long product. Once again, with all the collusion between factories and similarities between products, I'm not quite sure myself.
regards,

I just thought of another easy solution... pop out the bulge... the hole that is left probably has more than enough clearance for any gearbox....then get a set of dummy tracks ... round out the back of it... and just cover the hole....now I don't know how much a set of dummy tracks cost... probably a few bucks... but will make the front view look a lot beefier :D

hi guys thanks for the reply, sorry for the confusion i thought the bulges were a well known problem on here,or i would have added pictures, getting rid of the bulges is not the problem, that i can do,the problem is and i suppose my question was slightly missleading, does anyone know of gearboxes that would fit to replace the original ones,so you then wouldn`t need the bulge, heng long for example and from what model, the bulges are there to accomadate the factory fitted gearboxes,so they have to go before doing anything else,

just a quick note, the heng feng jagdtiger granted does have it`s problems as did the first heng long tiger one,but like the tiger 1,it is quite satisfying putting them right, and is a lot cheaper than a tamiya which most mortals can`t afford.

Hello Painkiller...I'm new to the hobby....so have little or no knowledge of certain brands....that is an unsightly bulge though... I don't think I could live with it... but it does look removable ... IS IT? because the way I see it ... you have so many options...options that might become clearer if you take the bulge off...as you have to remember... the bulge is there to cover the rectangular hole....so you have a certain amount of "play"...clearance wise...removing the bulge...subtracts the thickness of the plastic it's made of...increasing your clearance for your gearboxes...now I'm not certain of what the stock gears in your tanks look like...but with the added clearance you may not have to change them at all
All you might have to do is cover the entire front with a piece of carefully cut thin gauge plastic card..re apply some zimmerit and paint it... you should be good to go...or as I mentioned before... leave the hole...and cover it with spare tracks...it's a common location so wouldn't look odd at all

Good luck with your "BATTLE OF THE BULGES"....

though you could always proclaim "NUTS" and ignore them :haha:

hi alpha, the bulges are there because of the gearboxes, you take the bulge away and you have gearboxes sticking out, what i need are replacement gearboxs that don`t need so much room so i can get rid of the bulge.

Yes ... I considered that in my reply... that's why ...in a way you have to think like the factory...they installed that bulge with the knowledge they needed space for the gearbox... so if you take the bulge out ... obviously the gearboxes will extend into the opening left behind...but it's still a relatively easy fix... as the clearance is already there... all you have to do is cover it :D

I saw that you solved the problem... but I'm just putting this here for the benefit of anyone else who should run up with the same problem

Have a good one painkiller... it's a great looking tank... tough to find.. take care of it
