I have both and to be honest, the torro/wsn though better detail wise, I do not feel its as strong as the Heng long also the controller is more toy like, the m/c gun fire is done very poorly as stated above. also its all about what your mates have, Heng long are the more widely known make so will always pick up the extra sales
but this is MY opinion and as such is of NO real relavance as to the real life pro's and con's. buy what YOU like or buy whats about at the time and mod it
there are many very nice torro tigers modded out there
If at first you can't fix it , hit it with a big hammer

Hello Teddy

I agree in totality...I didn't purchase the Torro Tiger...but have the Skin of the WSN T34 made by MERIT... and just purchased the HENG LONG T34... and yes side to side comparison... the WSN is much more "accurate" like the tiger...basically a TRUMPETER model......but from what I saw internally was a total disappointment...like you said... it's more toy like..and needs a lot more added ...the hull felt like I could crush it in my hands...as the plastic was that thin.....everything on and in the HENG LONG was solid...

I evaluated what it would take to get the WSN close to what the HENG LONG is... I bought the HENG LONG.. just because it would have cost more just to match the performance ...as details can always follow later...which I might add...in the case of the TORRO WSN TRUMPETER T34... none of the hatches open none..zero ...nadda... all the hatches open on the HENG LONG ...though I don't like the style they adapted for the commanders hatch :haha:

Well here's my two pennyworth, I bought a Torro Tiger 1 from Tankzone ( don't talk to me ) last year because I had a windfall in the finances, It was not cheap but it worked straight from its wooden transport box, the things I like are, 2.4GHz digital r/c, metal wheels, metal tracks and beutifully blued, metal hull, metal turret, metal barrel, the quick release under the left rear mudguard/fender, the easy battery charge done in situ via a mobile phone type charger socket incorperated into the starter flange between the exhaust stacks. the metal front hatches have a practical value, giving access to switch gear and improving its overall look of being right, what I did not like was the price, the plastic tow ropes, the moulded tools and the whole back panel needed work, every thing was plastic, the front spare track holder was metal but the spare tracks were plastic. I actually like it very much, It runs well and is reliable but don't kid your self, to get it "right " takes work, metal exhausts, metal mudguards/fenders, metal tools, an aftermarket ariel, which reminds me I had to Dremel/microsaw the extra ariel tube off the rear left quarter, the cleaning rod /tow rope brackets beside the turret are a disgrace and I have made replacements I only need A set of butterfly nuts to finish that part of the tank ( thanks TOM!!!!)then I shall put into the turret the missing co-ax mg, The paintwork is nice but as this is an early model I will be repainting it, indeed I wish all tanks were delivered in primer so that the new owner can choose their own scheme , as we all discover when starting down this fast track to the home for the bewildered, there is always more to be done and no one ever tells you how much you will be spending on tools. so on wards and upwards and saying under my breath a prayer of thanks for the Forum.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Ok, the one we are talking about is the WSN-Tiger I, mid version.

I did a report about my one:

http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 23&t=11403

At the end of my report I wrote a resume.

And by the way, the Hobby-Boss-Tiger I mid version is the same as a kit of it with different decals.

My resume in short form:

- mid-version
- good looking
- good details
- horrible electronics
- weak gear
- very good plastic tracks
- much work to modify to change it into a running one

Greetings
Birger

Hello jarndice... Personally I don't see that you fouled up... I'm actually glad you wrote what you did about the high end Torro... it clearly illustrated the difference between the two maybe three different models Torro markets

Those High end Tigers are "sweet " I almost bought one....but at 600+ US....it was like someone who didn't know how to swim...
jumping into the deep end of a pool :haha:

I think your original post is a good advisory for any newbie that might be in the market for a tiger...so they can make their own choices

Just one word of advice...Park that baby on Ground level and not on a six foot high shelf ;) ..... :haha:

The TORRO that I have is a 'Wooden Ammo Crate' one and it is great with high build quality.
I do not see how TORRO is harder than any of the other manufacturers to upgrade ? and the Asiatam style lower hull is a great platform to use as a 'foundation'....... Surely All 1/16th Tiger upgrades will fit All the Tiger tanks ??? .....(with the possible exception of some gearboxes that may need additional holes drilled to make fit)

Dietrich, Hallo Sir, I completely agree with you about upgrades, indeed the only mix and match that I avoid is sprockets and tracks, the way I read it, is, if you have an accurately scaled 1/16 Tiger 1 it does not make any difference who makes it, the dimensions should be identical, one Tiger 1 to one Tiger 1. The difference is in the way the different makers go about the mechanics of the vehicle, so different gearboxes and motors, different electrics and r/c as well as different I/R but that which gives the Tiger1 its unique shape should be interchangable. shaun

Good Morning,
Speaking in addition to Jarndice about Tiger 1's being basically the same across manufacturers as far as body shape and size go, is it true that the newest HL Tiger 1's have corrected the turret ring misplacement? How about the pinched in Storage box on the back of the turret? The new Taigen Tiger 1's with the detailed decks and upper hulls look somewhat different from the old HL ones despite the same molded on tools.
regards,
Painless Wolf
