Great job Nick, following this unique build with interest.

The model comes together in four parts. the chassis, the back bed, the drivers and crew compartment, and the front end with wheel arches . The way its designed the assembly seems quite straight forward but there are a few issues with internal brackets which became apparent later. The assembly of the sections wasn't to traumatic and only a few gaps needed any filler. Everything was sprayed with a red oxide primer as was the original, all separately of course. I popped it all together for some pics

After the Red oxide comes the highlights then its on to the base colours which were a blend of Tamiya dessert yellow and sand with a little tinting hear or there

Id picked a three tone scheme used in Russia as it gave me the base to practice my filters and washes etc. I find Grey a little hard to work with and as ive a Panzer 38 build going on that will have to be grey I opted for the three tone. Having done the spraying and allowing the paints to harden up I put on a filter which is basically a very thin wash, the first time on is just looks wet but it darkens up with each subsequent coat after the filters I added highlights to raised surfaces then added a couple of washes.

Its all about playing around till your happy with the effect

Its a big paint job, in many ways harder than a tank as there are more exposed areas to deal with and its damn heavy too. The side panels have a lot of detail and the highlights bring it out nicely . Next its on to paint chipping and a little light weathering. The floors take some extra work as do all areas where there would be heavy wear

fitted the steering servo into the frame. This has a direct link to the steering and no servo saver so we will have to see how is copes with shocks, they are pretty robust servos and ive plenty of them and the Famos a slow beast.
