Hey cfred, any thought on making the main gun recoil ? I have been looking at Nick's kit, and was thinking about how difficult it would be to make the main gun recoil, if I managed to cover up part of the open turret with the roof field patch like you have here. Great build BTW.

I still have not figured how to make the gun's recoil. There is little room in the turret for the mechanisms and I'll need to dispense some of the pieces made by Nick, leaving only the barrel to install the recoil. But there's no problem with the roof patch field. I made it removable just to be able to have easy access to the interior of the turret.

The roof field patch is fixed by 1mm rigid copper wires. It can be easily removed but is still firmly in place.

I have been thinking about an open top build, either the M36B1, or the Nashorn. The M36B1 will definitely not accept a standard HL/Tamiya recoil unit, and it would have to be some kind of modify servo recoil. I am just wondering if Nik's kit allows the gun barrel to slide back and forth somewhat for a simple servo recoil.

I just bought on eBay a complete recoil unit for the Tamiya Pershing. I'll try installing the recoil mechanism on Nick´s M36 turret, but I think I´ll need to give up the parts of the gun that are inside the turret.

The roof field patch is made of polyestiren, copper, brass and epoxi.

I decided to rework Nick's parts for the gun to allow the installation of the servo recoil. I do this to avoid a very different apperance from the internal visual of the turret.

M36 Jackson build - Minor Updates...

Post by cfredbandeira »

Here are some minor updates to the M-36. I have not been able to work much on it due to lack of parts. I buy materials and other items needed in Germany, UK, Singapore and Japan and sometimes takes up to 3 months to get here. Even glue is hard to get here.
