Just to add to Kevin's comment, another thing to check is to see if there are noise filters on the motors. That might be the source of the EMI as well.

Kevin, is there a vol reg on the Dragon ?

Hi Michael.

Yes there is BUT I can make a version which uses two diodes in series to drop the voltage instead. I expected the VR boards to be more reliable. I can revisit the 2 x diode version if required.

Been busy over the Easter Holidays - Hammerheads are with the shipment from China expected to leave April 9th too BTW.

Cheers KG

Kevin,

I am just wondering if it is vol reg causing the micro controller to brown out and not triggering. Putting in the 2940 fixes all my stock Taigen MFU tanks. Does it have the same connector as the MAKO (i.e. 5 pin to the vol reg then 3 pin servo connector ?).

Hey Michael, Yeah the Dragon originally had the SMD version of the 2940 but for some odd reason the micro didn't like the setup so I swapped it to a Microchip VR and all was good. The connector is very similar to the MAKO. Cheers

Have had another look at recoil this afternoon. All wired correctly 3 pin connector correct still track recoil. There is a 2 pin connector coming from the turret to a 5 pin conn which plugs into mg fire on Taigen RX remove this 2 pin conn and no track recoil, recoil on barrel but no gun firing sound.Plug back in gun sounds barrel recoils tracks recoil. :-(

dubster, the two pin connector from the turret is the trigger from the micro-switch on the barrel recoil. Once the barrel recoils it triggers the firing sound and the track recoil that's why if yu unplugged it no sound/track recoil.

Assumming you bought the Dragon WDM/Steve, Kevin is willing to replace yours I guess. Personally I think there is still something different about Taigen that is not working with the Dragon and my money is on one of the voltage regulator (either the one onboard or the one inline if there is one between the Taigen MFU and the Dragon). I was too impatient and tinker with the MAKO/ATRC with Taigen myself but Kevin is the creator so he is the man. He was great and entertained my tinkering with his creation. I am certained he cringed everytime he gets an email from me....... :-)

Do you have an RX-18 set-up to try out ? If it works it will save you shipping it back to Steve and wait for Kevin since it is something particular about Taigen MFU then.

The problem is having seen others working with this set up i can only assume that it's a duff board :-( .So it looks like i will have to return it to steve at WDM.Cheers for the help.

dubster/retiredamry97, let us know how you make out with the replacement board. I am still not totally convinced it is duff board(s). Curious to hear if other Taigen tankers have the same issue with the Dragon.
