Awww... damn. I should have known that! LOL! You are right bolted on. You can see it really clear on the production turret at Le Gleize.

Oh well will give me a reason to remove that weld which I wasn't happy with because I used an old 1/35 method of mixing plastic shavings with white glue but the Heng Long plastic is a heavier composite so didn't work as well. I went by a few builds I watched online about the turret weld and figured they must know something I don't! LOL!
And nope, I didn't miss the loaders pistol port! Ha! I saw enough comments about that and a couple of ref pics to make sure I added it. It was done after this series of pics. Funny you mention about welding after the war. We have a small tank park at a base nearby and back in the 70's it had some really unique vehicles but my god the way they welded them shut especially the wirbelwind! The park suffered from neglect for many, many, years but now is much better with a lot of vehicles indoors.
It's funny this pic you attached almost looks like a model shot with the way the background is fogged and the way some of the shadows fall.
thanks for the comments Scott!
where are you located, I see you on here a lot.

Westwood NJ in the US......the turret pic is from the kt knocked out in Le Plessis Grimoult in Normandy. It was suppose to have had it turret displaced when a 2 inch mortar hit a amo truck near it....by the look of the hatches there was an explosion inside.....my pic was taken after the tank had been pushed off the road and the turret fell off....here is a pic as she was found....everyone has seen this one.

Hey Jeff, actually it really didn't smell too bad at all!
and it was pretty easy to do although it was tedious I still say 1000 times easier than using putty and having to hurry before it got too hard, having it not stick properly, thickness issues, etc... I could stop at any point for a break, (whiskey!) For this scale I think it really is the way to go. Waitill you see it with paint!

Re: Old Modeler, new R/C KT build
hadn't seen that one must, tried to save it and it wouldn't let me
one thing i will say though, looking at the pics again dg, the zim should really carry on over the turret joints. only nit picking though. looks the dogs. starting mine on the tiger over the weekend. there goes my sanity, again. lol . hmmmm now i like the whiskey break, altough port is my big tipple of choice( too many friends in the navy and marines. lol tempted with the iron way, looks a bit more controlable. mind you before i do anything i have to work out how to get the front of the hull off this torro tiger. i can see a gap ehre the mahine gun and head light go through from the back but i'll be damned if i can see it on the front of the panel. here goes with a scalple and a gentle touch i think.

Re: Old Modeler, new R/C KT build
Oh, I should have mentioned that, I left off doing the turret joints at first because I wanted to source close ups of those areas to see if the zim looked undulated over the raised areas and if it was lower in the slight recessed areas. It wasn't so that is fixed further on in the pics which I will post more of tonight. I like the iron. I filed the hobby tip to better shape and scale and it worked awesome on this composite plastic. I actually practiced on the underside of the turret and then just sanded it off when I finished. Port with the fish eh? Never really developed a taste for it. We love our Canadian rye whisky. Sorry can't help you with your Torro. Only really started back into this 2 months ago! LOL!
