Actually I am ending up putting a 3 way switch (onbattery charge - off - on run) in using the old BB gun switch location inside the loaders hatch. When I get ready to post my build there will be pictures.
The actual charging port is mounted at the back under the top right corner tool box on the back plate. I didn't like the idea of opening up the engine cover and mounting switch and plug there because on the off chance that you ran out of power with the turret forwards you couldn't open it to charge it. That would defeat the purpose becasue you would have to take the tank apart to get at it! I closed in the power switch housing on the bottom and now am contemplating where to put the volume control. Thinking about making one of the domes on the rear engine cover actually rotate and work the volume control. It will be on full blast most of the time anyway! LOL!

try and avoid having your on/off switches in the turret as it makes it awkward to remove the turret easily.

On my KT the on/off switch is under the block of wood on the right rear panel, the switch is glued to the block and it moves up and down to switch the tank on or off. In the off position the charging socket becomes active and is as you say on a panel under the rear deck at the "dome", it lifts off to reveal the socket. That way the turret can still be lifted off without disturbing any power wires.

It's already awkward to remove the turret! LOL! If you really want it off off you have to unplug a bunch of stuff from the RX18 anyway. I am planning on putting in plugs for everything in the turret wiring so adding the power lines will be just one more thing. I like the idea of having all my wiring together as much as possible. Less clutter and wander.

Smart idea on the block of wood. Like that! Next time this I hope is just the first of many...
