I agree Ian, what ever you make or want to call them, Panzerturm, Pantherturm, (Tigerturm ;) ), or turret pill box ... they can add another dimension to any battlefield, & if made to be radio controlled, can be used in battles by anyone from beginners to invited spectators that don't have tanks to operate but could still participate in the battle too.

I had completed phase 1 in a 2 phase project I was working on just about a month ago, of a scratch built Pantherturm, which I am currently calling a Tigerturm for now since the only available turret I had to use was a 1/24 scale VSTank Tiger I turret ... eventually it will get a 1/16 Panther turret mounted on it. It uses a Clark board for full battling capabilities & 2.4GHz radio control. Base was made of cardboard with fiberglass overlay. Coating of glue & mortar added for a cement kind of look, then weathered & damaged some.

Keep up the good work, this should be an interesting project to watch unfold.

Hi everyone heres an update for mk2 version.

This one is intended for RC control so it has that plus sound. I let the pictures do the talking.

And a quick video.

Plus figured out the issue of not receiving hits. The MAKO chip is damaged, it still fires and hits all tank types just not receive them will have to see about getting replacement chip.

Well I was wrong :{ looks like it's the hit indicator is drawing too much power and stopping the signal going anyway. Tried the KV1 with a smaller 3mm LED and it flashes up great and receives a hit sound as well. Still need to play around with adding resistors to current hit indicators, but moving in the correct direction now.

Sorted 100ohm resistor works a treat on the 5mm LED's :D

Just a bit of tidying up tonight.

Using some rigid packing foam as a base so the electronics don't touch the metal tin. Did a bit of car stereo extras trick screw stuff to the carpet and hide wires through to carpet and underneath, well also used glue as well.

Added volume control, on/off switch and on indicator at the back

And finally added some more rigid foam under the turret to stop wires getting caught up in the turret ring gear.

So just needs painting now. Think I give back to Mark to paint as he's tanks are better finished than mine.
