1/16th Scale Decals

Post by Red Devils »

Hey guys,

Here is another hum dinger of a question, been looking around the parts sites for accessory (Label) decals for my Tiger. I'm looking for decals that would have labelled items like: Sight case, First Aid Kit, etc? Specifically, I'm looking for First Aid Kit or Sanitats Kasten and a Red Cross (See Ref Pic). You would think there would be something of this nature out there as I'm sure a few fellow tankers have super detailed a tank interior.

I know they're ways around getting her done, ie. Dry Transfers on decal paper but I'm limited to hobby stores in this backwards province. Any ideas?

Thanks...

Derek

Hi Derek,
If you have an ink jet or laser printer you can buy A4 decal paper on line.
I've done it quite a bit in the past.

Thanks Sparks,

I'll look around for that paper. When you do it, how do you judge the proper scale size and find the font? I do find it surprising though, with all the 1/16th scale tanks out there being built, you would think that the decal producers would make a generic set. One day. Thanks again.

Hi Derek,
There is a wealth of fonts and clip art available on the internet mostly free, its just a matter of slogging through it to find what you want.
But if its something specific, I copy the photo or picture of it (if its good enough quality,if not you can usually enhance it) into photo editing software and print that out, the smaller you want it the better the quality has to be. As for scale, I'm no expert there either just trial and error, start with what you think looks right, printing onto plain paper, and reducing till I get the result I want, then print onto the decal paper.
I have done a couple of thing for my tanks, but have actually printed some GR crown cyphers to go on 1/100 scale buckets for a HMS Victory model I am making.

Thanks Sparks,

Will give it a shot and your right those bucket decals are small. Almost need my scope to see them.
