Snap!

Post by seamusagleann »

I have a heng long tiger one, with a small problem ,when you take off the top hull OK? There's 3 wires you dis connect OK?, not the aerial, not the multi one ,but the other one ,OK where it joins the turret there's 2 solder points on a unit with 2 flat metal strips with plastic regulators, the wires are,red and black. The one near what take to be the firing mechinism has snapped ,does anyone know what it's called and what colours go where ,I have removed it and if it was bigger I'd solder a patch in but it,s just too fiddly , does it maybe come with the wires attached? That would be handy! Let me know guys, cheers 8) :P

I am willing to bet these are the turret motor and gun elevation wires, I'd like to see where they broke off as getting them mixed up will cause some problems.

I soldered the wires red to the inside one, black to the outside ,it controls the flash ,the red led when firing , I did swap them ,no flash so I'll change them back ,I just cut the wires then soldered them and covered with tape rather than fiddle with that contact again ,I'll find out if steve @ w d can sell me a new unit and fit that atm I'm upgrading to metal and must have got something wrong as the firing position , left hand joystick down makes the gun go up and down with no sound ,I must have something mixed up on the TX 18 ,any help on that prob will be welcome. Anyway thanks dude and ranman I'll post a pic when I get the top off atm I'm struggling to put on the metal tracks that came this morning ....cheers guys 8)

The left hand joystick makes the barrel go up and down when its pushed in one direction, when its pushed in the other direction it fires the BB gun and triggers the sound and track recoil at the same time. (can't remember which is up and which is down) My tanks are put away over christmas at the moment.
I have been looking for a picture of the connector board you are talking about to show how mine is connected but cannot find one at the moment - too many photos on too many computers!

Thanks for posting ,but not a help ,sorry ,l'll have to sort out the electrics soon ,I'm upgrading to metal atm and now the directions are reversed, right stick forward the tank goes back, right stick back the tank goes forward, the firing mode ,left stick back, makes the canon go up and down,no noise . Left stick forward ,canon up/down engine noise ,and I can't fire the canon .

If you change to low ratio gearboxes you put another gear into the gear train so the direction of the motors needs to be reversed to keep the tank controls correct, you probably were not told that.
It does sound as if your left stick is wired wrong, the stick back making the cannon go up and down is correct, but up should fire and trigger the sound not move the cannon at all.
Have a search for RX18 wiring diagrams on the forum I'm sure there's one that shows all the correct cable connections.

Just had a search and found an image I have been using to check my wiring is correct as I modify my tanks - I can't remember who posted it originally or even if it was this site but it is very useful, its a diagram some one posted for installing a flash unit but it shows all the wiring loom.
hope the original owner does not object.
