Really can it be that hard? I should have listened in school instead of wiring everybodies chair to the electrical console
Check out Clark models tk20 apart from needing seperate radio. No published prices but heard around £40 if it is as good as poeple say it should be nice kit for us all and hopefully force others prices to lower.

I have tested an early Clark TK 20 with a Turnigy 9X with problems at all, the lastest TK 20 board should here in Oz around the 12th of this month and my club will be fitting at least 2 of these boards in our tanks ready to see how they preform at our next battle day on the 25th of this month.....

@ Freakydude - I'm working on it - the controller that is BUT if you want quality you need to pay for it .... A $60 controller and quality just won't happen. No it is not that hard BUT people will throw their money at $60 controllers which makes R&D for those trying to make a good controller hard. Where is the incentive to develop such a controller if everyone wants to buy it at less than what it will cost to produce?

RE: the TK20 - see my comment above - plus at a test of the unit over here I was informed that the Battle system was less than operational. Also the control system is a bit odd. Actually if you look at the control system for the TK on the website you'll see that it is completely impractical. Now these are easy fixes, the programmer guy at Clark just needs to get onto the job. However, El Mod et al. aren't going to lower prices due to the Clark TK20. The reason is BECAUSE it is a $60 unit. If it was a $150 unit that MATCHED El Mod quality then you would have a ball game.

@ Reaper - So I was wrong about problems with the IR? If so my Bad. Sorry everyone. But I'd like to know for sure if you got the IR battle system working. The Turnigy 9X is a JR clone so there shouldn't be any problems with 9X as a controller. BUT again did you have to control the tank as per the diagrams on the Clark website??? If so is there any plan to change this for the released product? Also nice job scoring Clark Models as a sponsor for your new club.

Keep us posted Ken on whether the TK20 turns up and how it performs.

I installed my taigen 2.4 Ghz in my H.L. Pershing last week ; and took it for a " stress" test this morning ...
50 minutes of driving in wet grass in the park ....

Bad news !!! I'm already experiencing some " signal lost " problem with my system ....The tank becomes non-responsive and takes off at high speed (with me dashing to shut the power off) ...
And this is happening at close distance ( around 25 feet ) ; with a fully recharged battery in the tank and new batteries in the transmitter ...I opened up the transmitter and read 8.5 Volts on the batteries terminals with the power " ON"...
So the problem doesn't come from the batteries ....
Has anybody else experienced that problem ????
I will take that system off my tank until further information and feedback ... :( :( :(

Not the same set up but with the RC2HL adaptor when using the yellow HL batteries if I shoot whilst driving it go into standby. Turns out the load generated by the motors driving and recoiling and the HL battery causes the adaptor to brown out (voltage drops below normal for a split second). If I use LiPo battery never happens. Maybe that?

Thanks ! I think you nailed the problem ...
Although I'm running a new 5000 mAh Nimh battery in my tank ; I do remember loosing control when turning the turret while driving in tall grass ....It might be a " brown out " episode as you described ....
That seems to be a problem typical to the 2.4 GHz system ; as I don't recall loosing control that bad with the old 27 MHz system .... :/ :/ :/

That's why I like LiPo batteries you don't get the voltage drop when you need the amps. I think ones I got are rated at 150a output (although would discharge in a minute or two though!)

Or you can add a capacitor across the supply. Although no idea what size or how to calculate size.
