HL Tiger Track Tension?

I have had a quick look for a reference for the right setting. Photos seem to be too variable both of models and the real thing. Any ideas anyone?

Hi miketherock,
The best tension is the one that is 'just tight enough' to keep the tracks on the sprockets and idlers etc. You do not want them too tight or you risk damaging the tank....but they usually have to be tighter than the 'Real' tank because our tracks are comparatively so much lighter than the real thing, and so are much easier to 'throw'. The terrain that our tanks go over is VERY much harder and stronger when compared to a real tank. I have had my tank stopped by long thin tendrils of plants that get tied around a sprocket or even by what would be the equivalent of a small tree trunk between the wheels !
A Tiger 1 at 56 tons would have smashed this to match-wood but not my light-weight.....It needed the 'hand of its creator' to pull the trunk out...... :haha:

Idealy the track should come down and touch the third road wheel but even on the real Tigers this could change as the tracks stretched and got worn.

Thanks for that. I have noted from various posts that it can also depend on the terrain that you tend to run your tank on, which makes a lot of sense.
I purchased the Haynes manual on the Tiger 1 and it has proved to be a great purchase with loads of information.
I have found the tensioning info in it.
Well worth adding to your tank library. ;)
