Here are some of the pictures we took at the FRAG Battleday held April 28, 2012. These are of the overall battlefield scene. This is the day we unveiled the entire Village….27 buildings, of which 12 remain to be finished with paint and details. We were quite busy this past winter creating all these structures.
This is looking at the center of the field.
Far left view of field.
Far right side of field which includes the US base camp. There are 4 buildings here with another 3 to be built. We debuted the “false front” buildings that will go around the edge of the camp. Main purpose is to hide the parking lot and cars that mar most pictures taken of this area, and to give a feeling that the camp is in a small town.
Shows some of the mountain terrain that needs to be traversed in order to get to the Village. The US camp is to the right out of scene.
Looking over the high hill of the Kelly’s Hero RR facility at the Village.
A closer view of the south end of the Village and a RR bridge.
This is the west entry to the village. Over the concrete bridge, past the German 88.
View from east over top of new church bldg at the main square.
To the left of the church at the barn/warehouse and blown up building. This shows the way into town from the south.
The buildings in to forefront at the factory area on the north end of the Village. A big tank can hide in the bldg closest, and a smaller tank like a Mk III or Sherman can get into the third one up. You can also see the parking lot and vehicles that mar a good many of our pictures, thus requiring editing with background trees and clouds.
This looks down on the main square toward the west. The river runs through and splits the town. There are only 2 bridges from one side of the Village to the other.
A closer view from atop the Kelly’s Hero hill.
This is the far east side of the Village.
You could call this the “main drag thru town” looking north to south.
The main RR tracks thru town. Actually we need more room here because the telephone poles make it very tough driving. Most every battle saw a few poles knocked over.
View of the two tenement houses at the far east side of the Village.
This one looks NE through the Village. Below the trees in the forefront is the “Gully” This is a branch of the river that runs NW down around behind the RR facility and you can not usually see a tank making its way past and under two bridges. It leads to the north of the big KH hill and up into the north end of the town by the water tank.
Looking up the Gully at the two bridges.

Awesome work fellas. Great skills creating that masterpiece.
The entire British Empire was built on cups of tea ... and if you think I'm going to war without one, mate, you're mistaken.

Re: FRAG April 28, 2012 Battleday Scenes
FRAG has been around and had its field for 11 years but most of the village has been built in the last 5 years. It takes 2+ hours to set everything up, with a minimum of 4 guys doing the work. Most everything comes out of a big shed that we built at the battlefield, but I also bring a fair number of boxes each battleday of trucks, jeeps, cars etc and the 1/18th and 1/16th soldiers that we place all around the displays. Its a great set up when its ready to go, usually by noon on a battleday and then we have at it 4-5 pm. Tear down takes about an hour.
