Mato Sherman or Tamiya Sherman ?

Hi guys,

My next purchase will be a Sherman tank. I would like your advise which tank would be best to get ? I know the Mato Sherman is cheaper but it's not available now ( my dealer told me it would be available next month) whereas Tamiya is more expensive but the sound system is very very close to the real thing. If I buy the Mato tank, I'll spend money on upgrading the gears, electronics...etc....and the final price may be almost the same as the Tamiya Sherman.....So if it was you, which one would you get and why ?

I have both. Personally I dont like the Tamiya 105 mm and the suspension (I must admit the suspension is reallt good, its just a cosmetic thing). Made a M36b1 out of it instead, with fake suspension. The mato is a really good runner for that price and with some paint and perhaps a little weathering it will be a great tank.

Could you tell me about the engine sound on the Mato ? How does it compare to Tamiya ?

Well, to be honest I cant remember that much about the sound on the mato since I had a El-Mod lying around so I put that in allmost right away. If I remember correctly it sounds approximately like a HL tank so the Tamiya sound is far superior, not to mention the much better speaker system in the tammy.

There are so many ways you can pimp your sherman, Tamaya or Mato, there is several examples in this and oter forums, both cosmetic and electronic, for example the SLU unit for Shermans with Chrysler gasoline sound (complete electronic setup) ( http://soundandlightunit.weebly.com/products.html ). I guess both has its cons and flaws.

Are you sure RCTANK.DE and Torro-shop.de are out?

Hi there I have two tamiya Shermans and I love them both the sound is amazing and when turned up to full will drown out any other make!! Plus they come with the bulit prof tamiya electronics! And if you want you can go 2.4ghz as well!!! Or get an 6 channel and add extra moving things on your tank !! If you dont like the tamiya suspension it is not that hard to convert to the old style!! . Now one of the lads at the Hyde meet has got a mato Sherman and it is realy good ! The sounds is allso good! Now the main thing is this if you want to IR battle then the tamiya is the best option. If not then get the mato!

Thanks very much guys for your advise. I'll wait to see when HL & Mato release their Sherman in next couple months then will make decision of which one to get.

tamiyas are better i agree but the cost is a bit steep on the models
my leo had a wad of upgrades ....but i do love working on hl or mattorro tanks bit of a challenge
