Hello All,
I am a new member here and hope you can help me. Is there anyone out there that has built or has in the box a 1/16 Hooben Elefant that would be willing to make a copy of the assembly plans for me ?
I would like to see them so that I could put together a wish list of parts I would need to complete my 1/16 scratch built elefant. I bought the BASIC hull, aluminum lower hull and plastic upper hull from a German dealer; Mr. Chris Ludwig ( hope the spelling is correct ? ) and I would like to see if it was both possible and cheaper to buy the needed parts to make my elefant into a r.c version with hooben parts OR I have to buy over a long time the parts from overseas suppliers. Cost is an issue for me. Before I forget, Chris has been EXTREMELY helpful to me and I would recommend him to anyone thinking about buying things from him.
Thanks in advance for your help.
George

Hey I belive you need the asiatam running gear for your elephant
Re: Looking for Plans Help
Hi tomhugill,
So you think that only asiatam running gear will fit Chris`s elefant hull? Could you explain to me, a new beginner, why. I thought I could scratch build the elefant and save some money, if thats possible in this hobby. I thought I could use the Hooben parts in Chris`s Elefant But even Hooben are pricing the parts high. To buy there complete Elefant kit, I been quoted $221.00 U.S + S&H that`s a fair bit cheaper then just a few of their running parts alone. I just can`t spend money on one Elefant and leave it aside to buy another. I like the strength of Chris`s hull.
Any suggestions / tips would be Greatly appreciated.

Re: Looking for Plans Help
Hey matey the asiatam and hooben running gear have different dimensions so I'm not sure the hooben units will fit!
Re: Looking for Plans Help
Hi tomhugill
Thanks for the reply, if I understand you, Hooben running gear is of a different size and would not fit through Chris`s lower hull ? Could one not just drill out the holes ? OR is the suspension also wider and even though both Chris and Hooben are 1/16 there is a size difference between them.
Also I just got a complete assembly manuel for the Hooben Elefant.
Thanks everyone, now I guess I go on a LONG term shoppong / payment plan through Chris.

Hi Eastern Front
Chris Ludwig from Germany and his 1/16 elefant. His company has a banner on this site above. Is your Elefant the Hooben version ? Where did you buy it from ? If you don`t mind, could you tell me how much you paid for it ?
Thanks
